If you didn't change any of the settings on the device you may have blown out the power amp transistors ( and usually the driver transistors as well). I'm not saying that this is the 100 percent right answer, but since you have sound with the earphones it is very likely. the headphone amp and main amp are two seperate things. there is ofter fuzes in the higher end units like you have. Look on the back of the amp. If there are no fuzes there, they may be internal. If they are on the back you can replace them, but if they immediately blow again that would indicate blown power amp, and a trip to electronics repair is in your future. good luck. Harmon Kardom makes great equipment.

I had the same issue and wasn't able to find a solution on the net.... I got it working again by setting the remote to the receiver setting (amp in orange) then held down the power button and the number 1 button at the same time for a few seconds. It now works perfectly again.

hi,
p { margin-bottom: 0.21cm; }

You have to set the subwoofer setting in you system .for that do the following.

1 .For the remote control, press and hold the TUNER key for more than 3 seconds to switch to receiver mode.

  1. Press the SETUP key to enter the SETUP mode and select SETUP SYSTEM using up arrow or down arrow

  2. Select SP SETUP and press the SETUP key again so that the speaker system indication "SP SYSTEM" scrolls across the display.

  3. Press up arrow or down arrow to select OTHERS and press SETUP key

  4. press the up arrow or down arrow to select the SUBW ON and press SETUP key

exit the setup and try. Is the subwoofer is working or not

ok

A/V receiver freezes up and has to be unplugged for it to work "almost normal"..

I had the exact same problem with mine. Local repair shop had to replace the main in-put chip on the back of the front panel. Works great now. Cost about $125 out the door.

Component out doesn't work on Denon AVR-3805

You can try resetting the unit, it is a procedure that can make things start working again. Be aware that it will put all settings back to factory defaults, and you will need to go thru and set everything back up again. If it does not work, then you most likely have a component failure that will require serious electronic troubleshooting and this would be best done by a professional.

Here is the reset procedure.

1. Turn power off with the main power switch on the front display, this should make the red led go out. There are 2 power switches on these Denon's. One is a bigger switch and is used most often, the other is a small mechanical switch that is normally left turned on at all times.

2. Hold down the "Direct" and "Pure Direct" buttons together (both at the same time) and while holding them down you turn the power back on again with that little power switch you just turned off.

You should see all the lights in the display light up and then it will turn on to the default setting which, if my memory is right, will be the tuner at it's lowest setting.

Then go thru and reset everything back the way you like it and need it. Make sure that all the video inputs are properly set for each function so you are not trying to get a composite signal out of a function that may be set for S-video or something like that.

Hope this is some help for you.

I have the Onkyo 706 with remote RC-717M. My remote just suddenly started to malfunction. The volume up is turning it down and vice versa. The power button to shut the receiver off is doing the function...

Have you tried resetting the remote? According to the manual (page 101), press and hold the RECEIVER button, press the AUDIO button, wait approx 3 sec. until RECEIVER highlights and finally press RECEIVER again. Of course if you've programmed a remote control code for your PVR in the RC-717M, you'll have to do it again.
