Xerox 5334 fault code U4-1

The display is saying 'call for service' and the current fault code is U4-1. I have check for paper jam, and cannot find any. What else could U4-1 mean?

Reset the fault code first as follow:
Enter in diagnostic mode
Enter 20-3 and press 0 then press start again .
Hope it will solve if not done check the heater lamp continuty if found fault replace same.

U4-1 is a resetable fault code.Switch off press and hold 0 and switch On,Touch Routines tab, Enter 20 and start print,3 and start print,0 start print.Test the copier. But the problem is why has the copier produced this code.It could be that the thermister (which monitors the heat) and should be in contact, and riding ontop of the Heat Roller, has become disloged sending the copier into overheat condition.So first Switch Off the power to the copier, then remove the Web Assy 2 bolts on top of the fuser.Look on the R/H side of the Heat Roller the Thermister should be resting on the heat roller clipped under the metal bracket.If OK the next thing to check is the Over Heat Fuse in the center of the metal bracket (Has 3 AC wires connected to it 2 on the left and 1 on the right,pull off the one to the right and test across the fuse for continuity.If ok,It could be the Fuser heat rod has blown. regards exxerox

its a problem with the fuser unit ,its overheating .two ways to solve it first check if the sticker paper is supported by your printer ,2nd you may need to replace the fuser unit

I have xerox dc 250 machine, it shows fault code 077-909, paper jam at tranfer module but i checked there is no paper in it??

'what sometimes happens is that the sensor flag/arm call it what you will, twists out of its holder and jams, hence the machine thinks that there is still paper. the flag/arm should pivot freely'

Xerox phaser 8500 paper jam


Before you clear the paper out, If you press the question mark button (?) it will display the Jam Code which will narrow down what kind of jam you have. You can look it up if you can get access to a service manual.

Oddly, the most common jams aren't caused by rollers and need a DM camshaft 020K14801 changed instead. If you have jams right at the tray then get the roller kit 604K42200 after all.

I found some thing maybe do for you it may not be rhe right code you have at this moment but it come in handy for you.

31,004.40:6909: it's a mechanical initialization jam error. Pull out the paper tray to make sure it doesn't have a jam. Try also to manually feed some heavy paper or card stock through the printer to make sure the sensor in the preheater isn't stuck.

39,002.40 : DRAM test failure.

39,012.40:56208: "Cycle the power" and if that does not work replace the document feeder.

39,012.41: Document Feeder Optical Failure. Replace the document feeder.

4,0XX.6x: Process Control Software Fault.

· Reset NVRAM and then retest.
· Ensure ground integrity for the system
· Replace the EEPROM chip.
· Reboot the system.
· From the System Setup menu, go to "Information", "Troubleshooting"
· Service Tools menu.
· With the cursor at the top of the Service Tools menu, press both the Up Arrow
· and Down Arrow buttons to display the Hidden Service menu.
· Reset NVRAM is in there.

Solution 1:

a. Reset NVRAM and then retest.

Solution 2:

1. Turn the system power ON.
2. Wait for the Xerox logo to begin moving across the display.
3. Before the logo is centered on the display, press and hold the Back and Info buttons on the control panel.
4. Hold both buttons until the display reads “Beginning Service Mode Initialization”. Release the buttons and the system reboots into service mode with the Service Diagnostics menu displayed. Xerox 5334 says it has a paper jam but i don't see one


A paper jam on this machine can be several things. Not seeing the machine, it can be in the fuser area, There is one switch there that can cause a jam. if there is a acornidan jam there the paper has to be removed.
The machine can have a bad cartrige, the pr belt maybe be a cause of the jam espeically if there is a U-7 code. (A false jam) The pr belt timing hole cannot be read by the timing hole sensor. If this is the cause, a broken mount on the copy cartridge unit can cause this problem. The cartridge reciever unit needs to be replaced.
In the registration area there is a jam sensor that can cause this type of jam. If it fell out of place, or the magnet on the back of the acutuator arm has developer beads, can cause the machine to get a jam signal.

need more info.

Are you printing more than one page documents? or are you printing a single page... because that would help to know.

The fuser is the most likely culprit. But it could also be a sensor somewhere. The printer has "timing" and when that "timing" is off even a milli-second, it will say JAM. Does it only jam on one type of media, or from only one tray?

Specify the area of paper jam or the code on display that cud help isolate the problem quicker, it cud be a C or E code. Try to clear it with code 20 subcode 03, but state code on display
