I think that there is only a loosed or cold solder in the t-con board or some bulge up or leaky capacitor in the power supply. Try to remove the back cover of your unit then observe carefully if there is a bad capacitor in the power supply, if you see this bulge up or leaky capacitor try to replace it but be sure to observe the polarity, because this bad capacitor will cause your unit to malfunction this bad capacitor is producing a low and unfiltered dc output voltage. Be sure to unplug the unit before removing the back cover. Feel free to send feed back good day and best regards.

Fujitsu-Siemens P15 TFT power/picture problem. it take time to turn on.

It does indeed sounds like the capacitors, I had this problem last year with a Medion monitor where it would turn on and off, when I spoke to Medion they did say that it would need a repair but at the time I wasn't enclined to pay the repair fees for something that may happen again!

Personally I would stick with your plan of getting a new monitor because my view on monitor hardware issues is that if it's happened once it will happen again even if you do repair it resulting in a lot of hassle!

Samsung 40 no picture

If it is only 6 months old you probably still have a warranty. This is definitely a hardware issue, and unless you are comfortable taking your new TV apart, I would contact Samsung for repair.

White Screen

I have Fuji FinePix 2650 Digital camera with same problem. I can almost guarantee this is not a firmware problem. I went mountain biking a few months ago and take pictures. I take out camera and turn on. I get lines then white screen. I banged on camera and fixed it. Later a few weeks ago I turn it on and white screen. i beat this thing and get bad menu selection screen for a moment then white again. It takes pictures well and talk to computer no problem but no LCD picture. I thinking it is loose connection for LCD. Send it for repair or if you seek adventure try to fix it yourself!
