If your modem/router is connected via ASDL or Cable then open internet explored. look below the router/modem and it should have the IP address of the box (ie. http://192.168.1.1 ) Type this into internet explorer. It should take you to the log on page. Again read the modem/router though if you cant then try user name ADMIN and password PASSWORD. This will log you into the modem setup. Click firewall/security and switch it off........Get the model of the modem then type it into google and you will find a more detailed guide of the unit.
Its simple 1. connect a lan cable from ur modem to ethernet switch(For ex: 4-port) 2. Take 2 cables from ur switch ports and connect it to ur Pc's 3. Configure DHCP on your modems. So that ur pc's obtain ip address automatically from ur modem.
This is how u connect multiple computers to internet by a single internet connection
ok then first take a ethernet cable and plug it to the output of the modem and into the input of of router(for the link sys this will be known as the port labeled internet. then use the software for the link-sys and give it a network then wireless connect your computers through that network.
First, make sure that the device is working properly on the device manager of your computer. Then, set the wireless settings of the router to the wireless adapter. You can use the wireless utility built in to windows (XP and Vista) or the utility that came with your adapter to fix that.
Normally, the limited or no connectivity may mean that there is a wireless security set on your network and that the network key is set incorrectly. If you are using Vista or XP, try to remove the preferred networks and reconnect once again with the correct key.
You're wanting to connect the directly connect the DI-514 to the ASDL modem to give you a wireless network, right? If so here's what you do: Connect an ethernet line from the modem to the Internet/Wan port of your DI-514 and then you're set. I recommend you then follow the directions in the manual to setup wireless security.
If you're wanting to have your DI-514 wirelessly connect to the ASDL modem, then connect your PC to one of the LAN ports of the DI-514 and open the administrative web interface (usually located at http://192.168.0.1) and go to the wireless section and select "Wireless Client" and input the MAC of the ASDL modem's wireless interface (you can find this on the administration web interface of the ASDL modem) and you should be good to go.
