Question about Pioneer PD-F906 100-Disc CD Changer

Pioneer PD-F906 Laser carriage at spindle/extended

I have found this item and just trying to figure it out. A music CD is not detected. Sometimes it will spin the disk and most of the time it does not. I have observed that the positioner is right up aginst the spindle. I would have suspected it to be at the outside edge. Either the sensor is not seeing any information or there is no reverse drive on the positioner. I took it apart and moved it back, but I missed seeing it move forward. Any good ideas. Thank you for your support. rlcorty@yahoo.com

Re: Pioneer PD-F906 Laser carriage at spindle/extended

It might be an older CD player that can't read computer-made discs, or it could be a disc incapability... If you sure that the system supports the disc's format.. And it won't play other discs... try to clean the CD lens. CD lens cleaning discs: Every CD, stereo equipment, department, discount, store - and even sidewalk venders - carries CD lens cleaning discs. Are they of any value? Can they cause damage? I generally don't consider CD lens cleaning discs to be of much value for preventive maintenance since they may just move the crud around. However, for pure non-greasy dust (no tobacco smoke and no cooking grease), they may not hurt and could even do a good enough job to put off a proper cleaning for a while longer. However, it's also possible they will ruin the lens. Consider that the worst thing to do to a precision optical surface is to wipe it with a dry cloth as this is likely to scratch the surface as it rubs the dust over it. To the lens, a speck of dust is like a boulder. Once the lens is scratched, replacement of the entire optical pickup is the only remedy. And, since there are absolutely no sorts of standards for these things, it is possible for a really poorly designed cleaning disc to damage the lens even if the dust itself is non-abrasive. In addition, if the cleaning disc doesn't look like a CD to the optical pickup or disc-in sensor, the lens it may not even spin. So, the drawer closes, the drawer opens, and NOTHING has been accomplished! (But at least no damage will be done.) As if this isn't enough, NEVER put one into a high-X CDROM (DVD player or DVDROM drive). The high speed rotation may cause the cleaning disc and/or player/drive to self destruct. And, don't try a cleaning disc on an automotive CD player that sucks in the disk - it will get stuck.

The last 3 discs might be CD-RW which can be rewritten, but not all cd players will be able to read them. Just go to the store and buy some CD-R disks and re-burn the last 3 disks. That should solve your problem.

Turned on my Pioneer PD M501 one day and it would not play. Disc tray will not retract into cartridge and cartridge will not eject.

Sometimes the little ball bearings that keep the cart trays separated come out causing tray jams.
Make sure your tray retracts all the way into the player flush with the face plate, gently push it in while retracting for those occasional no-read situations. (Also for Denon that takes these same carts). Also note that the CDs go in the Upside Down position.

Can't remove cd cartridge because won't power up.

With the top off the unit, you can turn the tray gears manually for slow eject function. Unplug unit before touching anything inside, check internal fuses.

My pioneer 100 disc cd changer (Pdf906) door gets stuck when opening and closing. I haven't used it in awhile kinda sounds like it struggles half way through of both opening and closing the front part.

my pd f100 disc pioneer is blinking and the first 25 disc compartment was sticking...i opened and found the main loading system was in the way of the 25 disc compartment...the compartment was rubbing on the loading system...i am trying to back up my loading system without breaking to re start the process and stop blinking...if anyone can help let me know...marc---- yours is probably starting to rub....also,the sping under the compartment needs crazy glue so it doesn't shift....that is another sticking factor i found on mine also.the spring wants to move underneath... open your panel and make sure not to touch any circuit boards...some of them --you have to be grounded or you'll fry it....

PIONEER 25 cd disc changer,model no. PD-F606

This unit, if it has been moved recently, could have had the laser lens fall out. If thats not the case, open the unit and clean the lens, and while it is open insert a disc and see if the disc spins up to full speed, as the spindle motor is very popular to go bad in these units. Good Luck
