Question about RCA RT2250 System

1 Answer

RCA RT2250 I've had this receiver for four years and it's worked well. Now, the left and right speaker icons are flashing and sound comes on for one second and then off for one second. Surround sound is completely gone. Is this something I can fix?

left and right speaker icon flash and sound comes in and out

Sound is on for a few seconds, then off for a few seconds. Doesn't matter if the input is analog or digital. Started doing this after trying to tune the radio receiver to a distant station and there was a lot of "noise" being sent to the speakers.

My RCA RT2250 has exactly the same problem. When this happens, there is a glimmer of light coming on from the inside. When I shake it violently, normal sound would resume but not for long before it goes completely dead. Turning it off for a while and switching it back on would help. Very temperamental and unpredictable. I think there is a chip that broke.

i have the same problem anyone fix it themselfs

Started by sound cutting out. Then next time I tried it there was no sound at all and speaker icons are flashing. This is when trying to listen to radio, not sure about other settings though. Nothing else is hooked to it at the moment. Speakers work in test mode and it has stereo signal icon that shows its getting signal.

Make that 3. There must be some kind of date chip in the thing

When i unplug my rca rt2250 home theater system. the green light comes on on the right side. then goes off. everything works good after that speakers sound good. but once in a while that green light comes...

this is the amp IC and while unplugging and plugging it in again helps reset the IC for a little while , it will eventually completely quit and will need replaced
make sure that none of the speaker wires(bare wires) are touching or look like they might be where they are connected at
also if turning up the volume makes it cut out or sound bad then this will also indicate a bad amp IC

I have a DVD player, VCR player, TV all attached to an RCA RT2250 audio/video receiver. All was just fine until 2 days ago when the DVD player would no longer give sound and icons of the speaker system...

It's possibly only needs soldering of the voltage regulators. they are on the main circuit board heat sink (middle of the receiver and can be accessed by the bottom panel.

Power but no sound

hook up the antenna at the back and try to tune-in to your favorite radio station.
read the description at the back of your rca rt2250, how to connect your antenna.
connect it properly and raise up the antenna, put it where the signal is good.

Sounds like your right side output is shot. And yes it can be fixed, but the cost factor would be higher than what you paid for the set itself. First see if your inputs are working correctly, this also could be your problem. Check all your connections.

RCA RT2250R P.O.S. no sound

The blinking speakers mean the unit is waiting for an input. It could be that the input section is faulty, but I need more details.

What input is being used?
what speakers are connected and to where?
what is the audio source?

Continous Buzz/Pulse from speakers No other sounds come out

Sounds like you have an open filter capacitor. Your gonna need to look at the b+ and figure out what cap is bad. A circuit diagram would assist you in this repair. If you have no experience with electronic repairs then your gonna need a pro to assist you with this as there are no user replaceable parts inside this unit. Sorry Man. Good Luck

No sound to right speaker

It's probably just a cable problem. Reconnect the RCA cable from the receiver to the right speaker and even try to replace the cable. Good luck.
