If you have Word 2007 on your computer, the insert key is controlled in Word. While in Word, left click on the big circle but at the top far left of the menu (next to "home"). A menu box will open. At the bottom of the box is "Word Options", click on that button. In the far left column you will see "Advance", click on that and to the right will be a selection menu. Check the boxes "Use the insert key" and "Use overtype mode". This should work.

Right click doesn't work

Right click opens a context menu. That can be stopped by Group Policies from a work computer or any business computer. I cant remember how to resolve the issue, but look up explorer context menu registry keys and a solution should be out there. Explore is basically windows!

My right click menu pop's up when ever i try to click on my laptop anywhere, i have a DELL inspiron 1520.

is your pointer set to be opposite... go into control panel and mouse options, and see if you accidentally switched your mouse clicker buttons.... try clicking with the right click, does it still open your 'right-click' menu? does it work normal on an external mouse?

maybe its just a setting issue,... if not then prolly need a new mouse pad...

Dell 1525 touchpad not working

ONE : It may have been turned off or misconfigured. You can verify that by following the procedure below.
1. Go to the control panel,
2. Click on the mouse icon.
3. Under tab Touch Pad ON/OFF click enable.
4. Then Click on the Advanced tab. Under this tab, you will see a button Advanced feature settings.
5. Click that button and explore the options offered to you.
If you just want the default setting, restore them by clicking the Default button.

Thre are a lot of configuration settings, under different tabs, and it will require going through all of them.

Two: Your using the terms (driver is up to date) makes me suspect that you might have updated to the wrong driver. In that case you may try to rollback thr driver to the last version.

1. Right click the My computer icon on the start menu, or the My computer icon on the desktop.
2. Click hardware tab.
3. Under Hardware tab click button Device Manager
4. Look for mice and pointing devices. Expand the tree by clicking the [+].
5. Select something similar to Alps pointing device and click on it. Several tabs appear.
6. Select Driver tab. Then click button Roll Back Driver and OK.

But if you have been updating driver several times, you may not get the original one.

Any case, if this does not work, follow the procedure in part two, but instead of clicking Roll Back Driver, click Uninstall and OK.
After that, return to the device manager, select the [Alps pointing device], then go to the tool bar of the device manager, under menu item Action, click Uninstall.
Note: Under Action menu, there is the Scan for hardware change submenu. You will have to click that option after you uninstall the driver, otherwise you will have to wait after a reboot for the changes to take effect.

Hope it helps

Involuntary right click

Assuming this happens when you roll the trackball and don't click right? Seen this so many times.
Could be caused by:

IF Software Related:
Virus or Spyware taking focus of screen and cursor
Keylogger taking control of cursor
Other software running in background that is controlling screen refresh and cursor control.
Confused Drivers within Windows.

IF Hardware Related:
Sticky Right Click button

Fix: Process of elimination unfortunately. Remove all mouse hardware from Device Manager and setpoint. Start from scratch. (FYI: mouse won't work right at first reboot.. give it a sec to reinstall windows drivers operation will return to normal)

Best wishes

Microsoft Mouse Model 1058 - can't undo magnifier!

Hi, I have the same problem. I resolved it. The steps are - 1.Go to control panel 2. click on mouse and it will take you to mouse properties . It will display you the Microsoft mouse 3.Go to "buttons" Tab 4.Change the option in the "small thumb button" box to "click" from "Magnifier"..the default is "Magnifier"..that is why if u accidentally push this opens up an annoying magnifier.. 5. then click apply..It works

Logitech mouse installed, set left/right incorrectly

If you still have the disk for it you can reinstall the driver by going to the Control Panel > Printer and Other Hardware > Mouse > Hardware (Tab) > (Select Your Mouse) > Properties > Driver(Tab) > Uninstall. After uninstalling put the disk and install the driver.
