Enable keyboard

First, make sure it is plugged in. If it is a USB type, try the other USB ports on the computer to see if one or more ports have failed.

Still no luck? Try differen USB ports each time you boot up. During the boot, enter the computer's BIOS or Set Up area (usually pressing DEL, F1 or some other key). Check for setting regarding keyboard and keyboard type. Make sure they are enabled. If nothing works, the keyboard may be broken - not disabled. Try with another keyboard instead.

Make sure it has power (ejects). Check Device Manager in Safe Mode by pressing F8 during boot. Right click My Computer > Manage. Select Device Manager > View > Show Hidden Devices. Now delete all DVD/CD-ROMs and reboot. Windows will say "New Hardware Found" and install. Check BIOS by pressing F key (correct F key is noted during boot) F2? and make sure BIOS see's the Optical Drive.

During the boot process you will see on the screen to press a certain key to enter setup
Press and hold that key during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart

I cannot use my keyboard and mouse. Something is wrong with my devices

Make sure the keyboard is working in bios. When you boot the computer hit f2 or Del. key to make sure the keyboard is working. Also make a note that the keyboards light blink while turning on the pc.

If you are able to go to BIOS that means the keyboard is working fine.

Boot your computer in safe mode by tapping F8 key while the computer is booting. Select safe mode and check if the keyboard and mouse is working in safe mode.

If it is working in safe mode. Do a system restore to a date where everthing was working fine.

Please revert with the result of above .

Keyboard and mouse not working when windows starts

Hi there.
While you are in the operating system, unplug both the USB devices, then plug them back in, let windows recognize the new hardware and install it for you, this can take a couple of minutes, once it says hardware is installed and ready to use reboot the PC and see if you can use the keyboard and mouse while in the OS.
please post back with any more problems

Good luck and thanks for using Fixya!!!

Keyboard will not work during post or boot

The problem you are experiencing is caused by a setting in your BIOS. I recommend getting or borrowing a keyboard with a PS/2 port or getting a USB to PS/2 Adapter for Keyboards. Once you do, you can change the setting in the BIOS to accept USB keyboards. If you are already familiar with BIOS then you don't need to read further to enable USB support, other wise I recommend continuing to get familiar with what you are looking for.

When you get a keyboard that uses a PS/2 port, go to the BIOS for your computer. Go to "Advanced" and search for "USB Legacy Support" or something similar in terms of "USB", "keyboard", or "input". Once found, you will have to change the setting to enable USB. If the name of the setting has "USB", then you want it enabled. If it has "keyboard" or "input", then look at the available options for USB and use it unless it has something similar to "dynamic" or "auto-detect" which are better choices.

After finding the right setting and selecting the correct option, go to "Exit" and select "Exit and save changes". Then the BIOS will save and reboot the computer or continue on as if you didn't open up the BIOS.

Boot Up Problem with Eclipse II Keyboard

If you have a newer system you can enable USB legacy support via bios and your new keyboard should work fine, otherwise, your keyboard will only work once the operating system is booted up.
