Tracks get out of sinc when recording on Magix Music Studio Generation 6

You asked for more detail about my problem and what I have done to try to fix it.

With Magix Studio Generation 6 I record in audio format track 1 of vocal and rhythm. Next I play back track 1 and record track 2 with lead guitar runs. Then I play back tracks 1 and 2 and record track 3 with bass, etc. For years this has worked well, but now the tracks do not stay in time with each other. For example, track 1 is a little ahead of track 2, track 2 is a little ahead of track 3, etc.

I have tried uninstalling the program and reinstalling it, but that has not helped. Can you tell me what to do to solve this problem? Is there a patch or something?

    Thanks,

I do recordings with Magix Studio Generation 6 in audio format. First I record on track one. Next I replay track one while recording track 2. Next I play back tracks 1 and 2 while recording track 3 and so on.

The problem is that the tracks do not stay in time with each other. I have uninstalled the program and reinstalled it, but the problem persists.

The program has worked well for years, but now I can't use it because of its lack of syncronization.

Is there a patch or something I can do to keep using this program?

Regarding the processing power, my computer has the following: Pentium 4 / 2.66 GHz and 2.68 Ghz / 1.99 GB of RAM. Please advise.

    Thank you ,

Knowing how the underlying code works as far as storage and retrieval goes, I'd suggest that you defragment your hard drive. One the track is out of sync, the remaining poertions of that track will stay out of sync. Think of it as two cars traveling at 50MPH. If the second car has a glitch befor attaining 50MPH, it will be behind the first. Assuming that it can not go faster than 50 MPH, it will remain the same portion behind. Since the initial portions of any recorded track contain information about that track and take a little bit of overhead to start, anything that slows down that process will appear like the track being out of sync. Once it has started, the recording portion is buffered, so no additional hiccups will be noticed or seen. Try the defrag and let us know how you make out.

By the way, the initialization issue to which I referred has nothing to do with processor power. The CPU overhead for this function is minimal. It is the disc access latency that is the main issue here. Please try the defrag and let us know if there is a change.

    Thanks,

"Media Files not in Sync" should you encounter delays in playing mediafiles in sync wit your digital audio you can adjust the playback byspecifying a correction factor 'FX' in the menu "Project", Midi/VideoLink...". see the description on the menu option in this manual. Delays while "DIRECT SYNC" with midi studio or midi connection, isthis more what your looking for? It is possible that you get smalldelays while playback between audio studio and "midi-studio" or "midiconnections" if " Direct synchronization" is active. These delays are a result of an inaccurate sampling rate of the soundcard, with a program like cakewalk the software gives you the option atthe time of installation and at anytime during a project to check thelatency of your audio programming, hardware etc. and it calibratesitself so you don't have this problem., anyhow next step. try to find thecorrect sample rate in musicstudio, keyword Try this can be a bear with this software. O.K. tocompensate for latencies you need to load a large midi song in"Evolution" or " Midi- Connections" The duration Ideally being 2min ormore. Make a recording of the whole song in music studio as a hard diskproject. Open the dialog box "Snap Definition" and set "Fixed bar snap'to the BPM value of the Midi song e.g. 110 ( Beats Per Minute) Set"Units of measure to "Bars ?Beats", activate the grid with the # key, look for a distinctive beat at the end of the song in the sequencer,e.g. at bar 100, beat 1, Set the cursor to this beat and zoom in musicstudio until you see the single beats, now change the sample rate inmusic studio in 1HZ. steps untill the grid matches the beat LeftToolbar) This will allow you to find the sample rate that your soundcard is really playing. Use this rate for recording and playback now!if your sound card plays now at a wrong sample rate or the driver doesnot accept the new sample rate, you can calculate the FX factor= newrate (f.e.44080)/ old rate ( f.e. 44100)=.995. then type in this factorin the sync dialog FX factor and the old rate, e.g. 44100Hz. The sameprocedure can also be useful to compensate problems with external synchronization in music studio or with Midi/Video Link.
Hope that helps, if you have a moment to accept and rate my solution accordingly I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks,
lee

Hopefully you will get through to my answer as a lot of experts will just throw a one sentence solution as a placeholder. When they have little to no help to offer or don't know enough in the first place. If you need any further assistance please let me know.

Hi,
It sounds like you haven't followed the last step to the burning procedure. All you need to do once you've completed burning your disc is to Finalize the disc. Read below why you need to finalize as well as the steps to follow in order to finalize the disc.
Hope this helps ;)
How to Finalize Finalizing is writing the TOC (table of contents) on a disc so a CD player can recognize the number of tracks, the total time for each track, and their location on the disc. A recorded disc must be finalized to playback on a standard CD player. Once finalized a CD-R disc can be played on CD players that support CD-R playback. CD-RW discs can only be played on CD players that support CD-RW playback. Consult your CD player owner's manual to confirm supported formats. Finalizing is necessary to: • be able to play a recorded CD-R or CD-RW disc on a CD player • prevent further recording on a disc • avoid erasing tracks on a CD-RW disc • record text information onto a disc you record Notes: • A finalized CD-R disc can never be recorded onto again. • A finalized CD-RW disc can be unfinalized for more recording. • The CDR300 can play back unfinalized CD-R or CD-RW discs. • SYNC REC+FINAL mode automatically finalizes.
Here are the steps in order to Finalize your disk
1 Push Stop. The display shows the number of tracks and their total playing time. 2 Push FINALIZE. FINALIZE is displayed for about 3 seconds.

"Protect" feature increasingly activated.

You may have an output transistor gone bad and it is trying to run on one good transistor since they commonly are used in pairs (one positive and one negative). Time for a trip to the shop. Good luck.
