the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Dvd code 10

Check the cord connection between the dvd player and the computer. Re boot the computer and then plug the dvd player in. Be sure the dvd player is connected to the power source.
You should "see" it on the computer as an icon if you are displaying the desk top

If not, click on the desk top Windows icon, and then click on Computer when the pop up comes on.
You should see the display of your computer and hard drives
The dvd player icon should show up under "devices with removable storage" there.
Re check the dvd is actually on.
Click on Control Panel and then "Hardware and devices" You will see your printer etc.
If the dvd player doesnt show up, try and open the dvd player to load in a disc. If the tray doesnt open, the player is defective
If it does, then the fault is in the computer "Device Manager"
Go to the computer Device Manager and you will see the device name with a red x against it.

The two possible faults are
1. The driver is missing or damaged
2. The device is defective

If you have the skilset, delete the dvd driver and install it again from the manufacturers (Toshiba?) web site
If you dont, find a geeky friend!

Check the driver is correct and installed by removing it from device manager and reinstalling it. If it is still no good, I would replace the drive.

When i insert DVD in DVD drive...it shows only 0 byte space..when i open it, it shows blank.. why? any solution..

First try this:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318

Delete the upper and lower filters.

Then, go to device manager uninstall the DVD device driver. Reboot the computer. Wait until the computer automatically detects the DVD device icon. If not then download the DVD device icon from Dell Support website drivers and downloads.

If all files replace the DVD drive.

Hope this helps.

My computer can't find my dvd drive -- I can open and close the drive, insert a disk, but it does not show up on windows explorer (I'm using windows 7)

You should check if it shows up in Device Manager (right click My Computer, Properties and select Device Manager). If it does, then it's a drivers issue and you should try to reinstall the DVD Drive.
If it doesn't show up, then it's a cable connection issue. Maybe the SATA or IDE cable got loose.

D: (NEC DVD) drive no longer visible

If the device is showing then try this.
Uninstall the driver and delete the device from the Device Manager.
Shut the computer down completely.
Then re-start the computer to see if the operating system detects the drive and re-installs the driver correctly.

check in "device manager" for any hazard warning signs which indicate a problem with either the device or its driver's....to check, go to desktop, right click on "my computer" select properties, hardware tab, click "device manager" and check the list for those devices you mention. From here you can also troubleshoot and update driver if required.

Not working

Is the drive connected propperly ?
look at the jumper settings if its IDE

if it is connected propperly and still doesnt show up
( verify its showing up in My COMPUTER)
try it on anoter PC to see if it works.

Just cause its new doesnt mean it works

If it works and you did connect it propperly the let me know

IS IT READING ANYTHING ?
Is IT SHOWING UP IN YOUR DEVICE MANGER?

Click START, (right Click) my computer, select properties then device manager, it shoud show up in DVD/CD-ROM drives
if it doesnt then right click on anything and scan for hardware changes. If it doesnt show up then it isnt connected propperly.
