There are a few things to check there. First, make sure the choke is working. Next, adjust the small screw below the choke assembly on the end of the primary throttle shaft (right side). Also make sure that the choke pull off vacuum mechanism is working to partially open the top choke plate after the engine starts. Also make sure that all vacuum lines are connected and not cracked or broken.

Rough idle

Sounds like a automatic choke sticking....Take the air duct loose from carb..While accelerating engine spray bottle throttle spray in.....as the car tries to die...stop spraying...Repeat 3 or 4 times.....It will clean your injectors. Runs alot better...Remember....bottle throttle spray...not carborator spray

My 85 chevy truck idles real high when you first start it and after 3 minutes you hit the gas and it will idle down to normal could it be out of timing or is there a fast idle screw. tried nothing yet 1985...

thats the electric choke. It warms up the engine so that it will idle properly. It may be sticking. Personally i hate the things and just remove and just hold my foot on the gas a bit when cold starting.

But check and see that the solenoid is not sticking and that the other valves on the carb are not sticking some wd-40 should help.

Changed 4 barrell carb to a 2 barrell it wont hold the idle and dies out

that 2 barrell needs some more work done to it and what was wrong with the 4 barrell the 2 main jets in a 4 barrell are smaller than a 2 barrell as long as you dont engage the 4 barrells your using less gas anyways.

Chevrolet sprint 1986 idling high trying to find the

If the vehicle is a carborated engine, you would find your vehicles throttle body where the linkage connects for your acceleration. Most engines then have the idle screw very close to this linkage. Though from what little photo's I have seen of the vehicles engine compartment via google images. I unfortunately can not direct you as to where the throttle body on the engine is located.

Idling problem with 1976 vw beetle

try to replace the idling jet on your carborator and then just adjust it. you can replace that your self and put it bakc in all you have to do after you have replaced the jet. start your car and just adjust the idling your self. if that doesn't want to work clean your carborator. we have done both and my car idles.

S10 has very high idle when cold and sticks to the gas when warm

you need to replace the throtle body controll sensor. Also you may want to make sure all your linkage from the pedal to the throtle body is cleaned and lubed correctly. While playing in this direct area. Your throtle body is only 4 bolts away. Why not get some carb cleaner and get to know your truck just a litle more.

If this is a carborator, then you need to turn my warmup idle down. there are 2 sets of idles on carborators. the one to warm up the engine, automatic choke or pin settings. Get a Chilton, find out which idles pin is for what. and play a litle bit.

I think you have a throtle body so I would also check the automatic air intake sensor. It could be going bad. Check your filter and make sure its clean.

hope all this helps.
