You may be better off getting a new system rather than having it fixed. Your problem is in the head itself unless the head pick up that there is a CD or DVD in the tray it won't even spin. Since the systems are constantly coming down in price it is cheaper to buy than to fix.

it could be that your lens has lost its ability to read dvd discs but retains the abaility to read the audio cd you used. If this is the case (and a cleaning disc doesn't help) then I am afraid that the service centre was correct in its assumption.
The clicking noise is the optical unit trying to read the disc. When its working normally the CD spin's and the system reads the table of content ( info: on the CD ) and the disc stops till you give the next command , e.g PLAY etc. Now when the laser beam is weak due to dust on the lens or age, the unit starts to hunt for the CD by popping the len up and down trying to focus the laser beam to get a strong reflection. This constant up and down movement is the clicking sound you are hearing. Either unit has dust on the lens or is due for replacement ( if it has done more than 500 / 750 hours ).
If this problem occurs only at this cd/dvd it's a disk problem. If it occurs on various disks try using a cd/dvd cleaner set, a wet one is better. Follow the instructions on the set. The main idea is to put one drip of the included liquid at the set (usually isopropyl alchohol) at a specific place (like small brush) on the disk surface and play this disk. This way the "brush" will clean up the laser lens and after that the cd/dvd player will be able to read the disks. BE CAREFULL not to put too much liquid on the "brush". In case this don't solve your problem, the cd player needs laser lens replacement by a technician.

Take the top case off the unit, power on, and place a dvd into disc tray. Press the play button and see what happens. It should find the dvd, clamp it in the reader and then spin it at high speed. If it does this and still says disc error, then the read head is bad. If it does not spin at high speed, then the epindle motor is bad. This is the more common error with Samsungs. Repair shop time.
