Question about Computers & Internet
It seems that I solved the problem by assigning to the printer an IP address outside the range of addresses DHCP allocated. In my case, the Linksys router has the ip addresses 192.168.1.2 thru 192.168.1.12 under DHCP; I assigned to the printer 1.20 and so far it is working. Thank you for your prompt reply.

Tips for a great answer:
Dec 30, 2015 | Dell Photo 966 All In One Print Copy Fax
Aug 25, 2011 | Dell Photo AIO Printer 966
Setup should look like...
Wall > ISP Modem/Router
> Wireless router(if any) > Wired/wireless
If using DSL, a DSL Filter
MUST be on ALL devices, phone, answering machine, faxes, etc..., everything
EXCEPT the DSL Modem/Router.
You may share a DSL
Wall > DSL Filter >
Splitter > Multiple Devices
