Hello,
You need to upgrade to the high definition cable box---but first try this. Hook the cable from the wall directly to the tv and autoprogram it. If Comcast is anything like charter they transmit the local Hd channels in a format that digital tuner will pick them up. Just channel up/down and check out the channels with -1 and -2's behind them. Depending on where you are----your local channels will usually show up wherever they normally do but with a -1 behind it.
If this is enough HD for you then get a two way splitter and hook your box back up and keep using the RCA (composite) cables for the best it can produce,if otherwise
The problem you face is failed convergence circuits. The repair cost is over $400; could be as high as $500.Convergence problems are usually caused by a diode on the convergence board. These little critters have a tendency to short out and cause the convergence to do strange things.if otherwise
Obviously, this is not a job for the home owner because few of you know electronics. So, call in the technician to make the troubleshooting of the circuit. The diode costs $.98. The technician will cost you about $250.
Hope this will help to solve the problem..
