Problem occurred suddenly On all water settings and all washing selections after pushing start the water runs into machine for about 1- 2 seconds, then the flow stops running while there is a humming sound at the solenoid, but machine is not filling. I checked the flow of water from the hose and the in line filter at hose connection to machine and all was normal. Is this a solenoid problem, sensor problem or other....can I fix it... and if I were to pour water into the machine would it recognize the water level and start to agitate and function properly so I could get some laundry done?
Unplugging the washer has NOTHING to do with this problem. This is probably a water inlet valve problem. A very simple fix, that most consumers can do on their own. Variables? What variables? The common sense issue here is that ALL the water settings do the SAME thing. Since you have ruled out the fill hose, a water inlet valve would be common to ALL settings.

Re: Kenmore Elite Calypso Wassher
All of the above should be true! But I recommend having hands on service , because there are to many variables!
Try unplugging the machine for 5 minutes and then restarting it and see if it is a reset situation!

The FL error code means: Flood Condition: FL flashes if any overfill condition occurs. This condition occurs when excessive water in the tub causes the overfill switch to trip. The control must realize that the trip was due to an overfill condition instead of a suds lack condition in order for FL to be displayed
With an overfill condition, the beeper repeats a warning every 10 seconds with no time-out. The pump is cycled in drain mode for 30 seconds on, 30 seconds off until the overfill switch resets or power is discontinued to the unit.
Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.
This problem I see on these are the water pumps getting clogged with lint or other things, causing the pump not to pump all of the water out at times.
There is a check "valve" in the drain assembly that seems to sometimes cause problems with the FL error code. You can remove this piece, and might avoid changing the pump.
