Hi - first make sure the contacts of the memory card are clean. Try cleaning with a cotton bud soaked in alcohol then lightly polish with an eraser, the pencil type with the hard white rubber are best.
Then try reading the card again.

Next, if you are comfortable with using a PC then you can download a FREE utility that will recover your photos from the following link:

http://www.cgsecurity.org/wiki/PhotoRec

If you need something a little more "user friendly" then you will need to buy the software. If you search the web for photo recovery software you will find many.
One I have used successfully is RescuePro that used to be bundled with some Sandisk products. Now you can get it from the link below:

http://www.lc-tech.com/software/prwindetail.html

You can try the demo to see what you can recover before buying.

Remember - Do NOT try & write anything back to the card until you can recover your pictures to your PC safely!

Please take a moment to rate this solution & let us know if the information given was useful to you – Good Luck!

Never insert or remove a card while the camera is on. You can try to download the pics on the card to your computer using a separate card reader. Then, format the card in the camera.

How do u retrieve photos that have been saved on camera(sp-550 uz)memory not a picture card

With the camera's power off, remove the memory card.

Turn on the camera's power.

Retrieve the photos, as you ordinarily would do, were the memory card still in the camera. If you have the USB cable connected, then you can move the photos to your PC's hard drive, using either the camera's software, or Windows Explorer.

My olympus sp-550uz will not take a picture on Auto, but does take video and will take pics on the "My" setting. Also some pics have green tint to them now. This happened after changing batteries

I don't think the battery caused this problem.
Try a known fresh set of batteries, then go into the camera settings and do a "restore to factory default"
option. And, re-format the memory. If you are using a memory card take it out. Take out or put in AFTER camera has been turned off by the way. Hope that helps.

Can i use the olympus sp-550 UZ as a web cam?

It is not possible to use this as a webcam as the camera is not capable of sending streaming data over the data cable rpovided with it and also the software rpovided with it (drivers) is not programmed for the camera to be used as webcam.

Olympus SP550UZ photos saved on camera memory not card

In the Menu if you go to the option that says Setup and press ok there should be an option that says Backup. This should allow you to copy the images from the internal memory to your xD card.

Hey I just bought the Olympus sp-550. My problem is that the memory card will not click in...

the trick to that is, you have to use a dime to push it in deep enough til you hear the small click.
The memory card will then be level with the camera.

Conversion of LCD

Unfortunately such conversion is not possible. If the "vari angle" screen is an essential your best approach would be to dispose of the SP 550 UZ and buy another camera meeting your need. Sorry!

Raw picture on olympus sp 550 uz

Assuming your SP 550 UZ is similar to the 510 UZ "RAW Mode" is not available in "Auto" or any of the "Scene" modes. If you set your camera to "P" and then access the Image Quality item in the Menu RAW is available as an option.
Hope this helps.
