Headphones dont work with Vista

Hi ! I am currently using a Sonay Vaio VGN SZ 483n. The OS is vista business. When I play a movie or listen to music through the laptop speakers everything is fine. However, when I plug in headphones, sometimes they work and sometimes they dont. I inititally thought it was a problem with the headphones so i got new ones but the same thing happens. The sound comes from the headphones for a few hours or days and then all of a suddent the sound stops coming through it. This keeps happening. What do i do ?

hi once you install another system in preference to factory default in your case vista im afraid you have probably wiped all the on board data that deals with factory default.the only recourse is if your system is sata.you could install a second hard drive ,and put vista on that drive.hope this helps.

It is possible to downgrade my OS vista to XP

First and foremost before you do, you need to check to see if drivers are available for your computer for windows xp. Or, if you are more adventurous, find the .inf files that go with your current drivers, find the hardware ID"s in them and then install drivers either directly from manufacturer of component, or download XP drivers from other models with same hardware ID's. It is possible, just make sure you do your research for the drivers first.

A quick search indicates that it has been done, but the HD audio is a bit tricky. Good luck!

Oh, and one more thing, please take a moment to rate this solution with a fixya rating. Thanks! :c)

Hi,

You should have the drivers from the recovery discs that came with your PC. You can try thunderbird as an alternative email client.

Windows XP drivers for Sony VAIO Laptop

There is no easy answer for this type of question, unfortunately. The best I can do is offer some advice. While installing XP is always possible, and most of the time preferred by the user, not all of the hardware will work every time with every computer. That's just a disclaimer. I think this thread may be useful to you: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=128804
