Water backflowing through the detergent fill valve

There are various symptoms with this washer. Initially, I got a 'CE' (Communications Error). I cleared that but then, when I tried to start the cycle, the water valves would open and I could hear water flowing but it would only run for about 10 - 15 seconds and then stop. It would stay like this for about 10-15 seconds and then start flowing again for about 20 seconds and would then stop again. Then it would not start up again without 'Cancelling' and beginning the cycle again. It would then repeat the previous cycle that I described above. There was some water in the tub but I noticed a lot of water on the floor so I raised the top of the washer and started the cycle again. I noticed that when the water begins its fill cycle, the water will leak out through the detergent fill line.

Thanks for the feedback. Can I check for voltage at the solenoid to determine if the valve is being 'demanded' open by the control module?

The service repairman just left after I declined to have him repair the washer. It would have cost $563 to repair a three year old $850 machine. What a piece of junk. I will have some parts to sell off this thing. Is anyone interested?

What is the problem with my washer whan it has an erorr code CE ?

You have to tell us make and model to get a precise answer.

On many washing machines CE means communications error which is either a failure of the control board or some item controlled by the control board. It may be time to call the repair man.

Washing machine is showing IE

If you have a LG washer, the IE error indicates an inlet error. This can be caused by low water pressure, the water shut-off valves being in the closed position, clogged filters (either at the shut-off valves or the filters on the washer), an anti-flood inlet hose failure or a problem with the washer's inlet valve. First, make sure that the shut-off valves are open. Next, shut off those valves and disconnect the fill hoses. Check and clean the filters on each side. Try new hoses. (Many anti-flood hoses will restrict the flow when they fail. A way to check this can be to connect the hoses to the shut-off valves and put the other end into a bucket. Open the shut-off valves and check the amount of water flowing into the bucket. Do this for the hot and cold side separately.) Make sure that the inlet hoses are not kinked.

Make sure that the end of the outlet hose isn't lower than the washer's fill level. This can lead to the water flowing out of the washer as it fills.

If none of these solutions work, then the inlet valve has failed in the closed position or there is a problem with the sensor that monitors the amount of water in the tub within a certain amount of time. Try replacing the inlet valve. (If you add a comment with the washer model number, I may be able to get the part number for you.) Of course if the washer is under warranty, contact the company.

For a Samsung washer, this could be a Suds error. That suggests too much detergent was used, a non-HE detergent was used, or the filter before the drain pump is clogged. Try running the washer without any detergent to rinse the excess detergent out. If the error recurs, get a bucket ready to catch the water from the tub and pump. Next you will need to get into the washer and separate the drain hose from the pump and clean out the "coin catcher" filter. Make sure that there are no foreign objects in the pump. Then reconnect the hose and try running the machine. (If you add a comment with the model, I may be able to tell you how to access the pump.) Other causes for the IE error are a bad door seal or the outlet hose being too low in the overflow pipe. Also check that the washer is level and that the detergent drawer is fully closed.

I hope this helps.

Code ce and lf

If there is any breakdown in communication between the machine controller and the motor
controller, “CE” flashes and the unit beeps once.
Some common causes of “CE” errors include:
• Conformal coating on serial communications pins between the machine controller
and motor controller. After disconnecting power to the unit, try scraping this coating
off the pins.
• Check the resistance values between the serial communications pins with the
connectors in place. Make sure the harness does not have a bad connection.
• Check the quick disconnect at the motor terminal. The drive motor must be hooked
up properly or a “CE” error will occur.
• Drive motor thermal protector has opened.
• Motor controller is not powered or fuse has opened. Replace motor controller.
Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display
If the water fill time exceeds ten (10) minutes, the water valves are turned off and “LF” is
flashed.
Press STOP/CANCEL to clear the display.

Whirlpool duet hf error

This error code indicates a water supply problem.
Are both the hot and cold water faucets turned on?
Turn on the water. Check the household faucets to see if the hot and cold water faucets are turned on. Completely open both faucets for proper fill.
NOTE: Both hot and cold water must be connected to the washer and turned on; the washer will not properly operate with only one incoming source of water.

Are the water inlet hoses kinked?
Straighten the water inlet hoses.
Are the water inlet valve screens on the washer clogged?

Turn off the water and remove inlet hoses from the inlet valves in the back of the washer. Inside the inlet valves are screens. Remove any accumulated film or particles from the screens. Reinstall hoses, turn on water, and check for leaks. See the Installation Instructions for details; find them by entering your model number in the search tool below.
fl_hot_cold_back_of_washer.jpg Is the water pressure less than 10 psi?
If the water pressure is too low, the washer may not properly operate. To find out your exact pounds-per-square-inch (psi) value, contact your local water utility company.
Are you using HE High Efficiency detergent?
Use only HE High Efficiency detergent. Using non-HE detergent, or more than the manufacturer's recommended amount of detergent, can cause excessive suds. The excess suds can prevent the washer from detecting the incoming water.
Concentrated detergents labeled 2x and higher will require a small amount of detergent based on load size. Always follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

See also: Why HE High Efficiency detergent is required.
Are you using flood-preventing inlet hoses that can shut off the water to the washer?

These hoses have a valve inside that will close if the water pressure is higher than two gallons per minute; this will shut off the water to the washer. If one of these hoses becomes loose, the water flow through the hose will increase and close the valve inside the hose, which will shut off water to the washer to prevent a possible leak or flood. If the hose is not loose, try taking the hoses back to the store for a replacement set.

To remove the error display, press Pause/Cancel twice.

If Pause/Cancel does not work:
  1. Unplug the washer or disconnect the power for one minute.
  2. Plug in the washer or reconnect the power.
  3. Re-select the cycle and press Start.
NOTES:
  • On some washers, when the washer is started for the first time after this error code, it will begin to drain. You will not be able to pause or cancel the cycle for about 8 minutes while it drains. This is normal.
  • If the error remains on the display, and all of the other conditions above have been checked, call for service.
