SOURCE: WONT TURN ON

If you know how to trouble shoot solid state electronics and know how the curcuits work, then Im sure you can handle this repair. But my friend a tv set is not a place for a handy man to be experimenting around inside of, as there is alot of high voltage inside this set even when its turned off! Its best if you do not know all of the safty issues to seek out a pro to assist you in this repair. It could be a bad solder connection, or a bad filter capacitor that supplys the B+ to the video chip. Without looking at a schematic and tracing the circuit, its all a guess. There are no real user replacable parts inside this set. Good Luck PS please do not forget to rate this thread.

SOURCE: Sony TV, sound but no picture

thanks, I had someone here fix the big board. It seems that when we lifted it with the hand truck we broke the board. The unit is so heavy it is hard to hand carry upstairs. The repair was just under $200.

SOURCE: model KDP-51WS655 - blinks 9 times

A 9 flash code is defined as a zero cross failure, basically a power supply fault. It is usually caused by the failure of one or two diodes on the G board D6301 or D6116. D6116 is 871908197 and D6301 is 650056721. If you can get them and are handy with a soldering iron, you can probably replace them. Be sure the set is unplugged and use care when installing them, as high voltages exist in the set even after it is unplugged. If this answer is to your liking, please be sure to rate it. Thanks! Also, a good confirmation of this is to turn the set on using the following error code display method. With the original remote, press the following buttons:
DISPLAY
5
VOL -
POWER
The set will usually turn on this way if the diodes have failed

SOURCE: Sxrd rear projection standby light blinking 4

check the bulb door and make sure its closed all the way. be sure the bulb is firmly pushed into its socket. if the problem is still there you may need to repair the power supply board.

Is there a self check on this Projection TV

It to my knowledge only has a error blink code---if comes on and or fails--look for the power light to blink a specific number of blinks.

If set comes on sometimes it may have the on screen feature but it has to make it on to try that.

My display is arched on the top and bottom of display on my sony kp61hs10. Wanted to know a solution to fix this issue.

Convergence output ICs in your tv got defective and causing arched on top/bottom of screen.
Convergence output ICs will be replaced to fix tv problem. There is Convergence Repair Kit available along with photo instructions to fix tv problem and you can attempt to repair tv if you have little experience for that to understand those instructions. Or local tv repair shop will help you to fix the tv problem.
