How to change settings to tell Sharp MX2300 that it no longer has a finisher/stapler unit.

Does it show the finisher onscreen? or are we just talking about when printing to it.

once you unplug the wire harness for the finished and power cycle the machine using the main power switch it should no longer display a finisher on the screen.

You need to change the configuration of the print drivers on your computer to remove finishing options when printing. right click on the copier in your devices and printers and go to printer properties. Go to the configuration tab, and click the button for auto configure. some little fingers will pop up and tell you what to select click ok and then apply.

Let me know if you are still having problems

What is a finisher

A finisher is also called a sorter. In the days of analog copiers they were more important because of the way the copy process was but not so much in the days of digital copiers.

The finisher in the days of analog copiers is what allowed you to make multiple sets of a document and have them come out (sorted also called colated) page one through one hundred or however many pages were in the document. In today's digital world a copier can do that with out a finisher.

So why would anyone need a finisher know you must ask; well a finisher can also be used to staple or 2 and 3 hole punch your documents depending on the finisher you purchase.

I hope this was helpful,
Shawn

Can not get the output tray to use the finishing tray.

Do you mean you have internal finisher? Try to make any copy with staple it should comes out from there, if not you have to go to machine setting or copy setting , you do this by pressing menu buttom, and change the output paper to the internal finisher.

Let me know wat happen after.

Staple function is grayed out - how do you turn it on.

You do n ot need to enter the Service Tech code to ajust finishers. In fact that code should rarely be entered.

Is the option available while copying?

If it in the driver, select the greyed out option and let the driver inform you of the problem/setting.

Has the finisher been identified in the "instaled options" tab of the driver?

Normally, the driver or panel will indicate what the conflict is if any. If all these have been set correctly, contact whomever installed this finisher and have them do it properly.

Printing with just finish cartridge

You need to print it in spot colour mode.

Click Click File-> Print, and when the print dialogue pops up, click Properties. In the printer driver dialogue that opens select Spot Colour, click the Spot Colour button, select Finish (Glossy Finish) and print.
