OK, you did not say that it was a DVD driver - in the BIOS, SATA settings should be auto. If it is not seeing it after, then check the mother board spec if it is SATA 1.1 or SATA 2. Most drives have a jumper that is left on for SATA 1.1, and removed for SATA 2. If it still does not work, then the drive may be bad.

Sata hdd recognized intermittenly and installation sometimes sata hdd detected and sometimes lost halfway

Hello
Try disconnecting the hd from the motherboard, then reboot.

Shut down all power to pc unplug from wall, then reconnect hd,restart pc.

Be sure that in the bios settings your hd is set for autodetection,if there is a sata option just use auto.

Cannot seem to get system to recognize SATA HD when installing OS.

The xp disc you have might not recognize the SATA hardware on your motherboard.

There are two ways that you can use to solve this problem

1.Slipstream the drivers of the motherboard into your xp disc

2. Use a external floppy drive to load the drivers by hitting F6 at the driver loadin page while you install the os

DVD burner not recognized

This burner has some type of virtual software built into the drive called "Bluebirds". Bluebirds is advertisement linked to the LG website to get you to buy more LG products. If you choose not to install the software you will be prompted to install it every time you close the drive door. If you install it you get the tray icons pointing to more LG products. If you remove it from the startup it adds itself back to the startup every time you close the drive door.

Esata controller does not see my WD My Book Home Edition

If your WD id IDE
There is 2 ports for IDE master and slave you can try to swap to see it can recognize providing you set the correct jumper for M or S.

If your WD is SATA
There is more than one of SATA ports you can try to connect for every boot.
If it doesn't recognize, either bad board or bad WD

Can't install windows XP on a new 500GB Hard Disk

go to the manufacturers website and see what bios updates there are ? If any relate to recognizing hard drive capacity then it will be worth while installing the update onto the motherboard.

If not then check your motherboard for enabling LBA and if you read the manual it should explain what each option is for.

Also might be worth while slip streaming your xp installation disc with the sata drivers for your motherboard ( the sata drivers you can get from your motherboard manufacturers website, download and extract them and then use nlite to combine the sata drivers with the xp disc and re burn the xp disc ensuring to make it bootable )

Nlite website

Seeing as you are combining drivers it may be worth while getting all the other drivers ie network card, graphics, audio etc and combing that with your bootable xp disc.

Recognize sata hd

No drivers are needed - it should have been seen right away. Check the BIOS to see the drive is seen in the drives tables, and if there, XP needs to have the drive setup using FDISK. The drive will not show under windows until a drive table is on it.
