Computer won't turn on.

There must be a problem with your power switch on your computer casing, or motherboard or power supply.

Detach your power supply and try this, to check if your power supply really works. If the auxiliary fan will turn, your power supply is good
25627818-lfqggqo5gl3n2v4xynrvsb5u-5-0.jpg Testing your power supply and motherboard as seen on photo
25627818-lfqggqo5gl3n2v4xynrvsb5u-5-2.jpg If the cpu cooling fan and power supply did not turn the fan, but you have checked already the power supply that is working then you can conclude that your motherboard is need to be replace. But the power supply and motherboard and working, meaning to say your computer casing need to be replace or try fixing the contact of the switches attach to your casing.

Have a good day.

Power fan dosent move when turned on.

If the fan in the power supply does not move when the computer boots up, then I suggest you replace the switch mode power supply.
It is possible to replace the fan in the power supply but if you do not know what to do, I suggest you get a new switch mode power supply because this is a mains supply device and any mistakes will be lethal.

My computer went blank when turning it on

1) Computer isn't working, due to the Processor isn't working, due to a bad Power Supply.
Weak voltage power rail.

Enough power perhaps to light LED lights, and maybe spin fans, but not enough power to turn the Processor on.

Computer Power Supply's are rated in Wattage.
Volts times Amperes = Watts.
(Average computer power supply in a fairly new computer, is rated at around 300 Watts)

A) ALL of the LED lights combined, use less than 1 Watt of power.
B) EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts.
C) A typical Processor may use 51 to 125 Watts.
Depends on what Processor it is.

Power Supply with a weak voltage power rail, can have enough power to light LED lights, spin fans, but not enough to turn the Processor on.

Solution?
Test the voltages of the Power Supply,

Or, use a KNOWN to be good Power Supply, that has the correct amount of power cables, the right kind of power cables, the correct size, and shape of the case, and enough Wattage, for a test unit..

A bad Power Supply is one of the leading causes of computer failure.

I just installed a 500W power supply in my Dell dinension 4600i. Now it will not even turn on.The switch on the Antec power supply is on. All connectors are hooked up.

Hi

Does the power supply fan turn? When you first turn it on does the power supply fan twitch? You need to use a power supply tester. This will test the supply under load. What were the symptoms that made you decide to get a bigger supply? Is this a clone supply? I have seen cases of clone supplies not working in OEM equipment. Usually requires a simple wire change.

My pc is an emachine but when i try to turn it on it automatically turns off but the fan is running

The power supply is bad. Electrolytic Capacitors inside the power supply. The 'Caps' are filters for the power supply. (Used in both the Input Stage, and Output Stage)

Inside the power supply are Voltage Rails. The 3.3 volt rail, the 5 volt rail, and the 12 volt rail.
Bad capacitors = a bad voltage rail. Not enough power from the power supply. Your processor doesn't have enough power to turn on, or stay on.

Why is the fan running?
ALL the lights use less than 1 Watt of power.
EACH fan uses 2 to 3 Watts.
A processor can use 55 to 125 Watts. Depends on what processor it is.
Plenty of power to spin a simple fan, but not enough power for the processor.

Yes I'm sure, is the answer to your question.
(No I'm not psychic. Approximately 80 percent of the computers that come into my shop, have bad power supply's)

My DC5000 SFF turns on okay then switches off randomly Help!!

Which fan are you referring to? As far as I know the fan in the power supply runs at the same speed at all times. So if that is the fan you are hearing it may indicate that the power supply is failing. The power supply may be over heating and shutting down. I would try a different power supply if you can get your hands on one.

Hey man hows it going

Have you test the power supply for voltage, Is it good, if it is then the problem of course is not power supply. Some power supplies have a light on them. Also does the power supply fan work, If not almost always sure sign power supply is gone. Old power supplies are still available Every time I junk a computer P4 or older I save to power supply, What wattage?
