Sherwood RD7502 i want to connect waferdale subwoofer, but cannot pls. help

I know how to set this receiver up, but after disconnecting due to remodel and reconnecting..the speaker mode just won't hold the settings for either the speakers or the subwoofer. It also does not automatically go to the subwoofer mode as advertised in step 8 of the instructions. I can press it to get there (See step 9) , and change it to "Y" for subwoofer ...let it sit momentarily. Then when I check speaker setting, all is as it was - with subwoofer "N" and the speaker settings for small and large as they were before. All is plugged in as it was before with speakers and subwoofer. Too frustrating Any suugestions?

Yes, I am having the same problem and have been unable to solve it. I went so far as to replace the subwoofer and it still didn't work. I finally gave up.

I have the manual and I have the subwoofer hooked up correctly and the subwoofer is on. It worked before with this configuration..

I am concerned there is a short in the receiver since the settings won't hold? Anyone else have this problem.

It is not just the subwoofer settings not holding, it is the settings for the speakers.

Hi - You can download the manual by clicking the link underlined in blue below:

RD-6108

Your sub woofer needs to have it's own power amp i.e. a "powered" sub woofer:

Assuming your sub woofer is powered & connect as shown then check the following setting:

Let us know how you get on.

You can't get ANY audio to work on receiver's Monitor Out (which is a component video OUTPUT intended for your TV, not an audio input from it).

Read the manual and get a handle on what those 3 jacks are for (page 6).

Then, if you really need audio from the TV (instead of or in addtion to the probable Cable/SAT Box that originates TV-related programming), just run the audio out from the TV to any available Line Level audio input. The Cable/SAT box is the BEST place for the BEST TV-related audio and it will be available digitally.

The TV's audio control plays a part in this, too. Find its menu and select a FIXED (or equivalent) setting so you can turn the cruddy TV speakers down without killing the audio output.

My powre subwoofer in not working with the sherwood r-945. Can you help.

Hi,
I assumed that your receiver has a SUB RCA jack on the back..
find out the SUB output 1xRCA plugs of your receiver on the back and connect it to the 1x RCA input of your Sub...you just need a RCA cable .

Take care and if it succeeds please Remember to rate/vote and give me 4 Thumbs Up

Hope this helps!

Cables between sources and compatible units rarely need to be physically modified.

Splicing headphone outputs designed for nominal 8-ohm impedance speakers to a 47K-ohm (typical) RCA load is not a good idea but it might work on the Sherwood because this receiver does not automatically silence your other speakers when the headphone jack is installed.

There is NO other volume-controlled output to choose. Try it.

How to switch on Sub?

surround and subwoofer may not work if there is an additional graphic equaliser operating.
1. check in your receiver speaker setting ensure your speaker setup doesn not have subwoofer set to NONE. this will block any signal to your subwoofer socket.
2 when you select your surround sound setting setup, ensure you select the speaker mode you want, if there is a multicontrol knob, cycle through the choices
select subwoofer mode and set it to yes.
if you have set-up small speakers S in your speaker settings then it could be that subwoofer is set to yes automatically if you have large speakers L, subwoofer has to be set additionally in the subwoofer setting.
3 test subwoofer on alternative device to test it is working ok
consult manual on enjoying surround sound and adjusting the speaker settings.
