Question about Printers & Copiers

I have an Epson color 440 printer that will not print black and white. I have put in a new black and color cartridge but it still won't print black. It will only print the things that are color and leave the black blank.

The printhead and cartridges need to be cleaned, unless you got a faulty cartridge something is not working properly and its a pretty simple device, definitely problem with printerhead or cardridge, clean it and see how it goes.

Head cleaning, that may be in the epson tools. you can also clean the stuff yourself.

I want to print using my lexmark X6170 but I don't want to print color so I didn't put a color cartridge in. It keeps coming up with an error message and won't print at all.

Some printers require you to have the color cartridges in them even when you are printing black and white. You usually can in your print options choose black and white over color.

Epson color stylis 440 wont print black

You need to take the printer for repairs. there is a fuse on the main board that fuses. (I take it thet it doesn't even print a speck of black.)

My Epson Stylus NX 400 is not printing.

no it cannot. Those multi-colored cartridge system requires that you put in every single color, AND ensure that they are not empty before they will print. Even if all you want is a black and white copy.

Printing without color?

Im sorry to inform but yes, Epson ink jet printers require all of the ink cartridges to have ink in them in order to print any color, black and white, or grayscale images. Epson printers contain a permanent print head that needs to be charged with all colors to work. Even when users are printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged for color printing and prevent air bubbles from entering the color print nozzles which can damage the print head. Therefore, once one of the cartridges are expended, the printer signals you to replace the cartridge in order for printing to continue.

Printer cartridge problem

I have a 440 and have had the same problem. Of course, I have been using cartridges from Printpal, Inkgrabber, etc. that are not official Epson. I have found that it takes several cleanings and after the cartridge has been in the position for the ink to go down it will start. My last order from Printpal said to set all the cartridges in the position they are in when installed in the printer for several days prior to installation. Of course, every cleaning of the print head uses up more of your ink. You don't have much choice though.

Printing in black & white when color cartridge ran out

One of the possible reason why you can't print black in white because Epson ink jet printers require all of the ink cartridges to have ink in them in order to print any color, black and white, or grayscale images. More than that Epson printers contain a permanent print head that needs to be charged with all colors to work. Even when users are printing black text only, a small amount of color ink is used to keep the print head charged for color printing and prevent air bubbles from entering the color print nozzles which can damage the print head.

No ink is coming from my ink cartridge?????

Hi, I find this problem occurs when the Print Head dries out. You can buy special cleaning fluid for this. Just google search for "epson 440 print head clean" You can clean the print head yourself with some warm water on a lint free cloth but this is quite messy.
