Tap Settings>Display>General>Brightness, adjust to desired brightness, left or right. Alternatively, from your home page, drag your finger from the top edge of the table screen downward to expose several power button shortcuts (Wifi, GPS, Mute, etc), including the brightness scale, adjust the brightness left or right and/or select the auto[brightness] checkbox.
Adjusting Screen Brightness
The screen on the Kindle Fire uses more power than anything else, and the brighter the screen, the more battery power it uses. To increase battery life, you can lower the brightness of the display. Unlock the rest of this book. Swipe the status bar down to open the Settings drawer. Unlock the rest of this book. Tap Brightness. Unlock the rest of this book. Slide the brightness control to the right to increase brightness and to the left to decrease brightness.
Fixing the brightness of your screen is easy on the Kindle Fire, Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Paperwhite, all of which provide screen brightness controls. This feature is not available on the original Kindle, however, as the screen is not backlit.
Tap the "Quick Settings" icon in the upper right corner of your Kindle screen. The icon looks like a gear.
Select "Brightness" from the Settings menu. If you don't see it immediately, tap the "More" icon to access all of your settings options.
Use your finger to toggle the slider from left to right to increase or decrease the brightness of your screen.
Kindle Fire HD and HDX
Slide your finger downwards from the top of the screen to display the Quick Settings menu.
Select "Brightness" from the Settings menu.
Toggle the slider to the left or the right to fix the screen brightness.
Select the lightbulb icon on your Kindle screen. This icon is present when you're reading a book.
Move the vertical slider with your finger to achieve the ideal screen brightness.
Tap and hold the "+" sign to achieve maximum brightness. To achieve the lowest brightness possible, tap and hold the "-" sign.
Examine the keyboard. There should be a symbol on most of the function keys (F1, F2, etc.). Look for one that looks like a sun or lightbulb, either with an arrow pointing up or with the sun/lighbulb filled in. Hold the 'Fn' key, and tap the up/bright sun/lightbulb key a few times. The screen should increase in brightness.
If you cannot find the specified keys, you may be able to adjust brightness from inside Windows. Right click on the battery icon in the taskbar and open 'power options'. Look for a sun and moon with a sliding bar between them. You might also be able to adjust brightness by customizing your desktop (right click on the desktop and look for the proper menu).
before i tell you the problem i have few things to clarify, for your information the screen works with two components the display and the back-light , in order to see what is displayed you need the back-light (this is that you change levels as brightness), the touch screen works separately in top of display
You can't see any light in the screen what so ever (low brightness)?, when the phone is slide up and slide down state.
Go to a bright-light lamp, bring the phone close to the lamp tilt the phone slightly in either ways and see whether you can see the display (menu or icons)
if you agree with my points, you have dead screen back-light and need to be replaced,
You have a problem with a stuck shutter lens. Try freeing it by putting the shutter on auto shutter. You can try shaking the camera to free the shutter mechanism. Also try using a solid object to tap around the lens to free the shutter. Do not damage your camera with these fixes. If these fixes do not work for you, you will have to take your camera to a service person and have them free up the mechanism. I hope this information helps you with your problem.
