Question about Philips DVP3960

Asking For Password Then Won't Finish Load

I have a Philips DVP3960. It has worked great for the past almost year I have had it. I Recently rented a DVD called Asylum and when I put the DVD in it asks for a pasword. I used the pasword given in another post on this website, but then the front display stays on "LOAD". I watched a dvd just before this one and have never in the time I've owned it had to input a password. I took this DVD out and tried another Rated R DVD and it worked fine. Any Ideas?

Same problem here...asking for a password and has never done this in the past year that i've owned the DVP3960. It was a Netflix movie so I called Netflix who referred me to review the owners manual to "decode" the preset password from manufacturer...cannot get the options on the player to go to the "preference" page where the generic password can be changed.

Disc is not working. Error message No disc

Try cleaning both the disk and the lens of the dvd player. Sometimes even a little bit of dust can make your dvd player go ballistic. Brands like Sony,Philips and LG are very sensitive. If anything else fails, you can take it to a repair shop to find out if the lens isn't cracked or the LED isn't responding while trying to read the disk.

Asking for a password

I had the password problem with the Phillips DVP-5140. I looked up the user manual on the Phillips website and searched for "password". There is a manufacturer default password of 136900. I entered that number and was then able to play the DVD. The password may be different for other models, but you can find the default in the user manual for your specific model.
