I have a VAIO notebook Model PCG - 9W3M and have tried everything possible to try to get my sony video camera to work but keep getting the -- USB DEVICE NOT RECOGNISED - message. I even have driver detective installed that is supposed to update and install driver problems but it doesn't (well for me anyway) help.
Please send me advice on how to solve this problem.

Re: Usb device not recognised
Ok first thing is to unstall the sony driver all to gether, next reinstall the driver(sometimes the install cd has already become obsolete and therefore you have to download an updat for the driver specified to your model of sony) go to the web site of sony and download the up date for your camera . then attach the USB to the camera and the computer. this should do the trick.. good luck and please rate this thanks

You should not need drivers for this device as it ought to be picked up automatically by your computer (assuming that it's Windows, what version are you running?). If you have an expansion card in the player, then try removing this and then re-connecting the Kubik to your PC to make sure that the expansion card is not faulty.
Another quick test is to check the cable, both in a different USB slot if you have one available and / or by connecting another USB device that uses the same connection (in my case, a digital SLR camera has the same USB adapater so I can use the cable for either). If, doing this, the second device also is not recognised then try swapping the cable for a new one (but again, if possible test the cable and connection to other USB device in another USB slot as well).
One other quick question - does the Kubik device work still when unplugged from he PC?
It is very possible the drivers conflict. You should try uninstalling everything to do with the one you don't want. Then install the drivers/software for the 700. Also what software are you using and what version? Thanks, Lee
