I bought a supersonic sc-603 HDTV antenna. It came with assembly instructions and operation in structions, but no installation instructions. I need to know how to ground the thing. There are 2 aluminum strips that I don't know what they're for and a flat dual wire with a contact ring on each wire. I think that's the ground, but I'm not sure. I'm plannlng to have a separate ground for the antenna, and I need to know how to attach the ground wire from the antenna to the grounding wire coming from the copper grounding pipe. I also need to know what to do with the aluminum strips. Thanks, Jim

It may be a little different on the 26" model. It's been several months since I did the repair so my memory is a little fuzzy. It sounds like the non flat strands are a common ground and the flat ones are the hot wires. The best thing to do would be to take a multimeter and test for continuity on the center of the RCA jack and the flat strand of metal. If you get a reading, that is where the input wire should be soldered. More than likely you're correct and you should proceed as you found logical.

All you're really doing is making a new connection for the component input on the back of the TV. So just make sure that each hot wire from the DVD player will be on the strand of metal that corresponds with the hot wire from the component RCA jack, which is the center part of the jack, not the outer metal sleeve. In theory you could just attach all of the grounds from the DVD player to any metal part of the TV; I do not know if this will work however because the set might have a failsafe on the motherboard, not allowing video pass through when grounds are not detected.

I hope this helps! And please let me know if you get it working or have any other issues.

No problem. What I was suggesting you could do with the speakers is to splice the positive (it should be red or white) speaker wire to the hot part another separate RCA (I used the side input) jack and the ground to the jack's ground sleeve (the outer part). So the process is similar to what you're already doing with the component RCAs and wires. Once this is done you can hook a receiver up to the built in speakers in the TV with no hassle. The speakers will not be powered, however, so you can't just hook the audio output from your cable box to the TV. All this process allows you to do is hook a powered amp or receiver to the speakers.

What I meant by saying to make sure there are no grounds was to double check and make sure each bit solder did not bridge over to another strand of metal or the metal chassis of the TV and cause a short or a ground.

Anything else, just let me know.

Just purchased a supersonic sc-609u rotating antenna. It does not seem to rotate via the controller. What should I look for to make work?

Have you checked it before install? I'd suggest to check power cables' connections and remote's battery.
