Question about Canon PIXMA MP210 Photo All-In-One Printer
It's either a corrupted scanning program or a corrupted scanning system file. I would suggest that you try to uninstall then reinstall the scanning program that you're using or maybe just scan using resident programs like microsoft paint for windows systems or image capture for mac systems. If it works on these resident programs (PAINT and IMAGE CAPTURE) then we know that the software that came with your unit may be corrupted. Uninstall it including its registry entries then reinstall it (just the scan program).
