Solution: Replace cap. Radio Shack sells a 1000uF, 35Vcap for $2. This will work.

Why did the cap gobad? The cap is too close to a heatsink and over heated.

What does this capdo? This cap sends a signal to an ICwhich keeps the monitor 'on' after the power switch is pushed. When the cap is weak, AC ripple voltage isapplied to the IC and it sends a signal to shut the monitor off.

Opening the Monitor:These monitors are difficult to open.

The two plastic pieces snap together and must be pried apartwith a flat screw driver.

After removing the stand, you need to insert a flat screwdriver at the bottom of the screen where two slots are located. Then work the screwdriver around until the two plastic pieces are separated.

Remove the cover plate and unscrew the push button circuitboard.

Unplug the monitor cords from the driver board and removethe screen.

Unscrew the mounting screws from the power supply board andremove.

You will need to pinch the plastic support in the middle ofthe board to remove.

Cap Replacement:

Cap is located near a copper heat sink and the value will beon the side of the cap. It will be bulged up on the top. You will see burnmarks on the board surrounding the cap. Unsolder the cap.

Install the new cap and solder. Make sure you connect + ofthe cap to + marked on the board.

Be careful not to solder across joints.

Keep leads long so you can bend the cap as far away from theheat sink as possible.

Reassemble monitor and turn on.

This should solve the problem.

What I have understood is that the resolution of the Windows is way too high for the monitor. Remedy. reboot in safe mode and when booted, right click on the desktop and select Properties->Settings. It will show you the display settings including the resolution. Reduce the resolution and keep the highest that the monitor can take. You may have to reboot a number of times. All the best.

Probably blown capacitors, the 19" widescreen uses 6 16V 1000uF
Do you have a soldering gun? Its not that hard to fix, get the capacitors on ebay for $6-$8 with shipping.

LCD Monitor - green power light blinking - nothing on monitor

Carol,
It sounds like your computer is putting the monitor in power save or sleep mode, and the monitor doesn't respond appropriately. The monitor might be faulty, or overheating. Make sure there is adequate ventilation around the monitor, and that it is clean and free from dust around the vents on the case.

Another thing to try is to check your computer's screen saver and power saving settings. Try turning off the "turn off monitor after [interval]" setting and see if the monitor still shuts off after several hours.

Good luck, hope this helps.

My monitor turns itself off

If it's only a few months old then send it back under warranty.
The fault you have is the inverter circuit.

Hope that helps. =)

Monitor won't work

Try adjusting the video connection on the back of the monitor and kinda wiggle it from side to side to see if there's a loose connection. One other thing to check (In case it's a newer LCD) is that the video isn't switched to DVI (It should be automatic, but it can't hurt to take note of this)
