Your motherboard is fried, and it probably needs to be replaced. But this is expensive, and you best bet is to just ditch the laptop and buy a new one or another one. has really great deals on laptops, new and used. Also, if you are wanting to buy from a specific company, most companies have outlet stores within them, where they sell laptops that have been built already/refurbished, and the customer had changed their minds about buying them or getting thems ent back. You can get a really great deal by using this purchase option as well.

My Dell Inspiron Mini won't power up. When I push the "on" button, the light indicator flashes and goes off immediately.

Im very sorry to hear that, please follow these simple steps for you to be able to isolate the exact problem.

1. Removed the battery.
2. Connect the laptop directly to the power outlet without using the battery just for the meantime.
3. Turn on the laptop. If the laptop is able to power on, that means that the AC adapter is working fine as well as the DC port. If the laptop is not able to turn on, it maybe the AC adapter itself or the DC port.
4. Try to use another AC adapter if possible, make sure that that AC adapter is working fine. If the laptop is still not turning on, the problem is with the DC port itself. In that case, you will need to replaced the Motherboard itself.

Hope this will help...Thank you for using Fixya...

1.Try to check if the port (dc input jack) for the ac adapter is loose, because that could be the problem.
2. Also try to use a good known ac adapter if it will do the same thing. If it does the problem is the dc input jack. If not, the problem is the ac adapter and you need to have a replacement or have it checked.

Dell inspiron 2200 will not power on

Check your AC adapter for an LED showing it is getting power from the wall. Make sure you have no external devices connected, then try booting with just the AC adapter, next, just the battery. If still nothing, then your motherboard is probably bad.

I got an Insprion 2200. It turns on, but once I move it the power cuts out. Not sure if it's the ac jack on the back of my laptop or another internal problem. Even with the battery in there left to charge,...

The DC connect on the system board may be loose. Take hold of it at the connection and wiggle it slightly. If it moves alot, the DC connector on the board is loose.

If not, take your battery out and power up the unit and see it stays on. If it does then it is the battery.

If the battery is shot, remove it and see if the system will power up on AC only.

If not change, check the output of the AC adapter with a Multimeter set on DC voltage. It should be 15 to 20 Volts DC current at the connection end for the computer. If low or no voltage, replace the AC adapter.
