is there a specific reason you need to do this? Will windows not automatically configure it for use for you?

I tried to use a Logitech Wingman Joystick...and windows would not recognize it even after loading the drivers...so I assumed the gameport would have to be enabled on my motherboard

I got a new SATA 500gb HDD but the motherboard wont detect it.

Access to your Bios Setup & configure the Bios settings.

If you have got a SATA III HDD, ie if it is a Western Digital Sata III you need to configure the jumpers to work with your older Sata interface port.(Only Sata 1 & 2 ports on your Mainboard Socket 478). As for Seagate Sata III HDD, the configuration is automatic.

If your 500GD HDD is not detected, try updating the BIOS!
A word of caution "Updating the Bios is not for the Novice" Do it at your own risk. Failure in updating the Bios may render your Mainboard useless.

Hope it helps.

I have an Intel D845GVSR motherboard. The 4 back USB ports are enabled but the two front ports aren't. I also have a Creative Combo NS DVD ROM with card readers in it. My Computer guy enabled the card...

This is probably set in the BIOS. You need to reboot the computer and enter the Setup/BIOS to enable the ports. Otherwise they're physically disconnected in the case and you will need and expert to reconnect.

Check the all functions installed properly.
Go to these steps:
Start > Control Panel >System > Hardware Tab > Device Manager
If errors on USB port presents ,then reinstall intel chip set software,it can install either by the cd that came with your board or that is must downloaded from the intel center.
If these all steps are already given then do following:

Where are the audio jumper on board of ms9158e+, i want to disable sound. my new audio card clashes with on board audio.

It probably is *NOT* a "jumper" setting on the motherboard.

Instead, restart the computer, and press DELETE to enter BIOS SETUP MODE.

Navigate through the menus, and you should find some "enable/disable" setting for the "OnBoard AC97 Sound". Disable, and "save settings", and let the computer reboot.

It depends on what bios the machine has, there are recovery procedures, atleast on laptop bioses. That when a set of keys is pressed it reads the bios image from a floppy or from a usb stick / cd and flashes the bios automatically.

Look online for Bios recovery (find out what bios you have, ami, phoenix, etc and then look for _____ bios recovery)

Replaced 512M DDR with 2G DDR2, only sees 512M

Hi,

This often occurs as a result of fast/quickpost settings in your bios.

You will need to shut down your system, boot it, then quickly read the black and white screen.

Then press whatever button your system displays as the setup or bios button, generally Esc, Del, F1 or F2 but can be anything.

Once in your BIOS just browse around until you find the setting marked Quickpost, Fastpost, Quiet Post, etc.

When you find the setting, Disable it, save the settings and reboot. Once you're done rebooting, check the system properties. This should do the trick, then repeat the steps to re-enable the quick mode, and reboot again. It only needs to be disable for one boot sequence to allow the computer to find and add the new hardware to it's BIOS setup.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris

Intel Desktop Board D945GNTLKR did not boot

Try choosing the 'Exit Without Saving' option in the BIOS menu. If this kicks you to the boot media search, then 99.99% the BIOS is corupt. If not, try to replace the CPU cooler (don't forget to apply the thermal grease).

Windows XP Pro hangs on reboot after installation

Try removing your AGP card and enabling the onboard graphics again. It is possible your Radeon is a 3.3v, but this board only supports 1.5v cards. Take a look at the manual at ftp://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D845GERG2/BV2RG2_English.pdf

Freezes @ Mobo Splash Screen

you have i would say a corrupt bios, if it can't even select the splash screen, i'm assuming that you have tried to reset the cmos by means of the relevant jumpers, either JBAT1, CLRCMOS or CLRCLK or similair. If so and still nothing, when you built the system you may have stressed the board fitting the heatsink and fan or the memory causing the mobo bios chip to fault or it is simply a manufacturer fault and therefore up for exchange of faulty goods.
