I just changed my motherboard in model gsh22sgress. Both fans now work, but compressor does not start.Compressor tries to start then the overload trips.Compressor gets very hot.Took amp draw of compressor when it tries to start its 6.8amps. Any sugesstions? Stuck compressor? Maybe start relay. I know a little about how everything works but never messed with a refrigerator

Why did you change the mother board? Was the compressor working before the change? If it was, then you need to check the new board and see if there were any wires that need to be cut when it was installed. If it wasn't running before the board change then you might try the overload on the compressor first. Also it should be checked with a compressor checker to determine if the comp is at fault or not

Unpluged compressor fan and light worked is there a fuse for compressor

There is a relay, overload and run capacitor on the compressor but you need to have someone check the windings in the compressor and the fan before changing any of those parts. Sounds like you have a short circuit with your description of the problem. What is the model number of your refrigerator? Could be a motherboard problem also

My Daewoo freezer is not working since yesterday, we tried to change the fuse but it just works for 15 seconds then,it stops we don't know why can you help please?

I would think that the compressor is either overheating, or faulty and cutting out on a Thermal overload cut out device fitted to the compressor.
If it is overheating, then it could be due to several problems:
1] Ventilation to the compressor is poor, or blocked.
2] compressor Cooling fan failed ( not fitted on all models)
3] Condensor blocked ( Not fitted on all models) This looks like a small car radiator in the compessor compartment (if fitted?).
Turn the fridge off, and leave it for up to 2 hours to cool, once cool, ensure that the ventilation is good around the compressor compartment, and try it again. If it starts and runs as normal it may have just overheated. If there is a fan fitted in the compressor compartment, then observe if it is working or not when you turn it back on.
If the compressor cuts out again, as you have described, trhen it is more than likely that the compressor has failed and needs replacing.
This is not a job that a novice can do, and will be expensive to have replaced by a Refrigeration engineer.
I hope this helps?

How do I remedy the problem? It seems to be related to a fan trying to start up, but takes 10 or 12 tries before it keeps running.

model # AGE ? needed to give you better detail
If this is fan at compressor area it may be wired with compressor
compressor may be kicking out on overload.
stopping fan as well Change start relay at compressor
if that don't cure it looking at compressor

Why samsung refrigerator does not run model #RS261MDWP/XAA

if nothing is working - no fans running, no compressor running and no "clicking" sound of compressor trying to start, you probably have a defective control, which in your case probably means a bad control panel.

before trying to order one, unplug the frig and try to reset the panle.

Good Morning Edwin,

I see that you changed the motherboard in your Frigidaire refrigerator, model# PHSC3EHSS1I, due to it being full of water and would damage. I would suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to diagnose exactly why the compressor will not start after you changed out the motherboard. Hope this is helpful.

My magic chef model ctn1911gew is not working properly makes a clicking sound and is not cold at all and fan on bottom is not running. please help

Are we talking about the fan near the compressor? It is important to know if the compressor itself is running. If there is a loose connection to the compressor via the start/over load relay (normally attaches directly onto the compressor), or if the start/over load itself is bad the compressor will not run. It will click trying to turn on untill the over load gets hot Check to see if your compressor is really hot. Could be bad start/over load relay or bad compressor. Try unplugging your frig for say 30 min then, with your hand on top of a cool compressor, plug the frig back in and see if compressor smoothly vibrates for at least 5 min without becoming very hot or shutting off even though fan continues to run. The fact your fan is not running could itself be the problem. It is needed to keep the freon, and the compressor cooled.

Hi this is either a shot compressor or start relay for the compressor, relays are $25-50.00 you could try that first if ifts the compressor your looking at $500+ to have it changed.

Refrigerator has a clicking sound and does not run

Replace the motherboard (part # WR55X10942) but be careful to check that the evaporator fan (inside the freezer) turns on when you power up the refrig again. A bad evaporator fan motor can take out the motherboard. If compressor starts with new board but not evap fan, unplug immeadiatelly and replace the evap fan motor to save new board.

Kenmore Refrigerator Model #795.75004401 Doesn't get cold

Hi. Make sure all your fans are working. When checking fans, open the door and push the light button in. Some models the fan stops or dampers close when the doors are opened. Put your hand in front of the vent and see if you feel air. Do the same in the refrigerator and freezer. If you feel air from both, check and see of the compressor is running. There is a fan next to the compressor and should be running when the compressor is running. You have a motherboard behind a cover on the back of your refrigerator that controls all of these functions. It could be defective. Motherboard failure is common as well as compressor and evaporator motor failure. Fan Motor failure is common for refrigerators in storage for a long period of time. The motors are weak and can't start. This goes for all new refrigerators. I sell refrigerator items on Ebay as username, themackshack. Good Luck, Mack
