Question about HP Pavilion ze2000 Notebook

Ze2000 hp pavilion fan motor?

My laptop is only a couple years old but has a nasty noise when the fan kicks on to cool. I have never taken a laptop apart but am thinking it needs a new fan motor. If it is not the fan I don't know what it would be.
If it is the fan does this cost a lot? Do you recommend circuit city or those type places? should I try to do it myself?

I have a similar problem ... the fan is the culprit! The moment the laptop heats up (and boy!, ze2000 heats up fast) ... it kick starts the fan. It even disrupts chat sessions.

Kindly advise, which fan model is the best replacement ... quietness-wise and compatibility-wise.

Ok my friend as u mentioned its mostly the fan but lets put in mind the Hard Drive also because some time when you the HDD starts failing it will give the grinding sound

and since its a laptop i dont recommend that you take it apart unless u know exactly what r u doing

and yes u can go to circuit city or try best buy (geek squad) its up to u

cheers

Got noise from fan told its fan on hard drive worn is this fault with them only 2 years old

The hard drive does not have a fan. There is a fan on tht CPU heatsink and a fan in the power supply. You may have a case fan for additional cooling, but this is not always installed.
Noisy fans are easy to replace, but not the one in the power supply.

if the fan is not turning you can check in your power options to see if you have your fan is configured to run all the time. if this does not work you will need to replace the fan.

The fun does not rotate

Hi!

Try to vacum the dust way from the fan, and try to blow the dust u cant vacum whit compressed air.
If that dosent help you need to buy a new fan. Be carefull so your laptop dosent overheated, the heat cam make big damages inside your laptop.

Good Luck

HP ZE2000

Hi,
Dust on the CPU Fan, or rear casing Fan. Or Hard-Drive wear to fluid bearings.

There service manual, which you can download for free from hp's website has directions on how to replace the fan. Here is link to the manual (pg 161):

Also, I would suggest purchasing one of those laptop cooling fans that set underneath the laptop and plug into the usb. They do a fantastic job of helping to keep the laptop cool and they are not too terribly expensive.
