I guess u mean the encryption key

it should be written in the back of your router. if it not there

then just reset the router by holding the reset button for 30-60 seconds and then release at that point wait a little bit and then try to connect again.

if u need any help doing the steps or if u need any further help with the this issue please let me know

cheers

Trying to hook up a linksys wireless-g 2.4 ghz to a dsl modem for wireless how do i do that

Connect the DSL modem with a LAN cable to the WAN port on the Linksys wireless router. If you have not already configured the Linksys wireless settings, this is the next step.
To configure the wireless router and prevent unauthorized access to your wireless network, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

What we really need is more information on the router. Do you know how the other computers connect to the wireless? Do you know if you had to have a password in order to connect? If you never did anything to the Linksys router to set it up, you can login to the router by opening Internet Explorer and browsing to 192.168.1.1. It will ask you for a login name and password. By default the name is blank and the password is "admin". If you look at the wireless settings you should be able to see the wireless settings, like the wireless name (again, by default the name is Linksys), what kind (if any) of encryption is used, etc.

How to connect wireless router, Netgear WGR614, to my computer?

4 steps to set up your home wireless network
1.
Choose your wireless equipment
The first step is to make sure that you have the equipment you need. As you're looking for products in stores or on the Internet, you might notice that you can choose equipment that supports three different wireless networking technologies: 802.11a, 802.11b, and 802.11g. We recommend 802.11g, because it offers excellent performance and is compatible with almost everything.
Shopping list
• Broadband Internet connection
• Wireless router
• A computer with built-in wireless networking support or a wireless network adapter

A wireless router
The router converts the signals coming across your Internet connection into a wireless broadcast, sort of like a cordless phone base station. Be sure to get a wireless router, and not a wireless access point.
A wireless network adapter
Network adapters wirelessly connect your computer to your wireless router. If you have a newer computer you may already have wireless capabilities built in. If this is the case, then you will not need a wireless network adapter. If you need to purchase an adapter for a desktop computer, buy a USB wireless network adapter. If you have a laptop, buy a PC card-based network adapter. Make sure that you have one adapter for every computer on your network.
Note: To make setup easy, choose a network adapter made by the same vendor that made your wireless router. For example, if you find a good price on a Linksys router, choose a Linksys network adapter to go with it. To make shopping even easier, buy a bundle, such as those available from D-Link, Netgear, Linksys, Microsoft, and Buffalo. If you have a desktop computer, make sure that you have an available USB port to plug the wireless network adapter into. If you don't have any open USB ports, buy a hub to add additional ports.
2.
Connect your wireless router
Since you'll be temporarily disconnected from the Internet, print these instructions before you go any further.
First, locate your cable modem or DSL modem and unplug it to turn it off.
Next, connect your wireless router to your modem. Your modem should stay connected directly to the Internet. Later, after you've hooked everything up, your computer will wirelessly connect to your router, and the router will send communications through your modem to the Internet.

I have a Linksys for my wireless router and it is 2.4 GHz-802.11b I have no idea how to hook it up. so if anyone can help please do thank you

Hook up the netowrk cable to the Internet/WAN port on the router. The take a network cable and connect it to a port on the router , the other end into your NIC card on your computer. Restart all units and you should be able to get online.

I'm guessing you don't have the key to join the wireless network. If you have an ethernet cord you can hook your laptop directly into one of the numbered ports into the back of your router. After it's hooked up open a web browser such as internet explorer or safari. In the address bar type http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 and a password dialog should pop up and the default router username is admin and password is admin. If thosed don't work try either admin blank or blank admin. After that you should have a page with tabs at the top click on the one that says wireless, then there should be a sub-tab called security that has the wireless key there.

If the admin password doesn't work there is a small red button on the back of the router that you can press with a pen and hold down for 15 seconds to reset the router to factory defaults that means no wireless password and that the wireless netwok will go back to the default name "linksys" . Though if you choose this route you might look into putting a password on your wireless depending on how crowded your neighborhood is. If you need any more help drop me a line on this question.

I have a computer hooked up to bell sympatico. How do I connect my new compaq to it? Thanks

If you have only a DSL or Cable modem, that doesn't have an integrated Router, then you'll need to get a router to use more than one computer. The broadband modem, will connect to the uplink port of the router, and give you usually 4 wired ports and up to 50 wireless connections.

Here is an example from linksys
