Question about Zenith DVT412 System

1 Answer

Sound Not all but most dvd's has the sound very low, yet background noise is loud. If I hit the sound button, can change to spanish, french, comentator of movie making, etc the sound is perfect, when put on english, goes back to low talking, loud background. Some movies have an ENG1 and ENG2 when push the sound button, those that show that I can switch to ENG2 aeverything is fine. There does seem to be a bypass mode that won't change as well. Thank you for any help.

I have the same problem. It seems the center channel is muffled, like sounds coming from a tin can. Everything else is fine.
Not sure what to do. Is it possible to set that channel thru the TV?

To everyone having sound trouble... there is a solution! First make sure your TV is OFF. Unplugg the 2 main cables going into the DVT 412 for 30 seconds. Then re-plugg them. Press down for a few seconds on all the BLACK tabs connecting the sound wires and release. Without a disc in the player... and the TV still OFF, turn the power on and immediatley hold the down the STOP button on the DVT412 for 5-10 seconds. Your picture, vocal and backround sound will return to normal. Feel free to make changes to the sound now! Happy tuning... GO STEELERS! LOL!

For some reason, I get audio for the visually impaired when i play a DVD. The original sound of the DVD plays but an additional narrative (describing each scene) plays as well. The DVD is a recent...

Generally, remote controls for DVD systems have a button labeled "Audio". This button changes which audio track you will hear during the movie. Common tracks include English, French, Spanish, Commentaries, and occasionally Audio for the Hearing Impaired.

It seems odd for the latter audio track to be default, but clicking the Audio button until you have the plain English track should work. I would consult the manual if you have it on hand to see if your system is capable of remembering which track to start on.

Hope this helps.

Every once in a while the sound goes out and comes back if i watch a movie or regular tv how do i fixit

Most recievers had setting for TV/Stereo/CD/ DVD

Also the various sound settings, such as Concert / Hall / Dolby etc...

Assuming your wires are all hooked up correctly and reverse polarity (popping noise heard) is not the problem. I doubt that you need to resolder any connections inside the reciever or speakers. (That may be a problem, but not likely in this situation)

What may be happening here is that some things are simply not recorded in surround... Then it will sound just like you've described. sound going in and out. Sometimes the engineer skipped a track, you know, left for lunch and when he came back, didnt start back where he finished before he left...

However, lets say for example your watching a TV movie of the week, and those speakers may appear to be working while the movie is on but not during a commercial, since most commercials are not recorded in Full Surround Sound... this is normal.

However, if happening during the Movie, from scene to scene, also possibly a normal thing if the sound engineer had nothing to add for background noise, ie; rustling leaves, creaking floorboard etc...

Sometimes you may hear background sound out of a left speaker and not the right, (or vis'a-vers'a) this is of course due to placement of object or subject of background noise... if Any

9 times out of 10, it may not be your system at all. If your watching a DVD and this is happening, you could make a note of when and where and try another copy to see if this system can be replicated at this same location. You may be able to use a CD and find out also.

Hopefully you'll find some help in this.

Respectfully

Sound and background music and noise is fine

This usually happens on home burnt DVD's

It is the format in which it was recorded that is at fault.
There is little you could do but re-encode the whole thing before you burn it.

Turn off or try the different surround options whilst it is playing.

If it does this with commecial DVD's then you may have set the surround setting by accident to somthing else.

I had a similar problem

The background music is louder than the voices

in the menu there should be some type of set up for this, it will most times show you on your screen a room with all the speakers in it and ask you to hit test then it will shoot a white noise type of sound around to each speaker and ask if you heard it, there are then adjustments you can make for the front, rear, and side sperkers independent of one another.

Sound not loud Sony DAV-IS10

I think its the fact that the speakers are pretty tiny, even tho BOSE has proved that size doesnt matter. i will agree i have a descent size home and i have to max it out all the time to watch a movie
just a design flaw IMHO.

If you have two sets of subtitles when the DVD subtitles are turned on, turn off the closed captioning on the TV menu and on the DVD player and this should solve your problem

Subtitles...

This could be a problem with a particular DVD media and not the player. The movie (or the program on the DVD) is recorder with default English subtitle. Have you checked it with any other movie DVD to see if it is the same behavior?

No sound

Sounds to me like your center speaker is either not connected, or somehow not working. The not working part could be explained by a failed speaker or, possibly a failed amp in the unit.
