if you want to
downgrade or upgrade, choose the firmware you want to downgrade to, then go to
itunes and shift-click on restore and choose the firmware you want to change to.
this will restore your ipod
Please note that you may not have a genuine Apple iPod. iPods don't have hourglasses, and don't say MP3 or MP4 Player on them. The cable should also go into the player via a wide flat plug. To check to see if you have a genuine ipod, put your serial number into https://selfsolve.apple.com/GetWarranty.do .
That said, You may want to try formatting the player. Your Firmware could be corrupted. If it works with itunes, click restore. Otherwise, right click the drive in my computer and select Format.
If you install the itunes version 7.5 that you downloaded, you wont lose your music library. It is a separate file from the programs installation files. You don't need to uninstall the previous version, the new one will install on top of it.
