The F50 code for the Whirlpool Cabrio is most commonly a Motor Control Board failure.
Motor Stalled
F then 50 flashes when the motor rotor position sensor (RPS) senses no rotation.
? Does basket turn freely? If not, make sure bottom shipping pack has been removed. Determine cause of friction.
? If basket turns freely, see TEST #3, page 4 of the Diagnostics and Repair manual.
DIAGNOSTIC TESTS
There are three diagnostic test modes available: Automatic, Manual and
Console. These tests allow the factory or service personnel to test and
verify all inputs to the machine/motor control. You may want to allow
the automatic test cycle to complete prior to going into specific
troubleshooting tests.
ACTIVATION OF AUTOMATIC DIAGNOSTIC TEST MODE
Be sure the washer is in standby mode (plugged in with all indicators off; or with only the Clothes Clean or Done indicator on).
Select any one button (except POWER, START, STOP and PAUSE/CANCEL) and follow the steps below, using the same button (remember the button):
Press/hold 3 seconds.
Release for 3 seconds.
Press/hold 3 seconds.
Release for 3 seconds.
Press/hold 3 seconds.
If this test mode has been entered successfully, all indicators on the console are illuminated for 5 seconds with 88 showing in the Estimated Time Remaining two-digit display.
If indicators do not display as described above, the press/hold/release procedure above may not have been performed within the time frame necessary for successful entry. Repeat step 2 to ensure this was not the cause.
If still unsuccessful, see Diagnostic: Unsuccessful Entry.
The program then checks for saved fault codes:
? If there are no saved fault codes, all indicators on the console will momentarily turn off, then
turn back on with 88 displayed. After 5 seconds, the Automatic test, below, begins.
DIAGNOSTIC: Automatic
Performs a five-minute automatic test with water functions to check
major washer functions (door can be open). Press the same button used in
step 2 above to advance through automatic test steps.
NOTE: Basket must be floating in order to agitate.

Simple solution-- needs a new control pane. I just had to deal with the F50 code on a 4 year old Cabrio Wtw6200 model. Did diagnostics, it spun freely but took out the tub just to check, check all circuit plugs as suggested, etc,....At the point of deciding whether to junk it ($600 in 4 years) or gamble for a control board costing $155. and non-refundable if it didn't work. Went for the control panel (part #W10189966). took my husband and I about 25 minutes to replace, and it worked! Spins, no error codes, and even fixed the loud noise it used to have! Wish someone would have told us..... please don't waste your time on a repairman or other solutions...
Sorry to read about your problem, I hope this helps you out.
The F50 code, indicates, the machine control board(in the console) is not seeing a proper input from the RPS sensor(motor).
I suggest you contact a service company.

The F50 error code indicates that the RPS (rotor position sensor) detects no motor rotation. Check to see if the basket spins freely. If not, you could have an item caught between the outer tub and the inner spin basket. A toy or other item underneath the washer could also prevent the basket from spinning and would result in this F50 code.
If the basket spins freely, you could have a wiring failure that would prevent the motor from spinning.

The F50 error code is a stalled motor error. There is a part called a "Rotor Position Sensor" that sees the motor running. This error will display if it does not see motor movement during a cycle. You want to make sure that the spin basket turn freely.Turn the basket by hand and it should turn freely. If it does not turn freely then it could cause the F50 error. If the basket turns freely then the problem is most likely the main control or the Rotor Position Sensor has failed.I recommend having a technician to check this problem.
Press pause cancel once and that should do it. If not the repair manual advises calling for service. Lets see what the F50 is...hold on...Motor stalled, rotor position sensor detects no motion from the tub, does basket move freely? If basket moves freely see test#3 in the repair manual HERE The manual gives readings to verify and has a long detailed complicated set of IF's for this machine. Good luck

this code would indicate rps sensor at motor. whirlpools are very bad with electronics and control boards. New rps sensor requires new harness as well.
