I put a DVD-RW in the slot for DVD. I'm unable to read it and the door won't open back! The screen of the DVD/VRC is showing the word «OPEN» but the door is not opening. I already tried to unplugged the DVD player for several minutes and when I plugged it back an press the «open door» button it didn't work. What should I do?

Re: DVD stuck in DVR5000
Some CD/DVD units have a manual opening mechanism, it looks like a small hole on the front of the unit, try using a needle or a metal rod that fits by inserting it into the hole and pushing it should open the unit in case it got stuck somehow.
If afterwards it continues to work then all's good else you'll have to bring it to a workshop.

What you need to do is to prepare philip screw and oil. 1.) open the back cover of your dvd by unscrewing it. 2.) look for the center area specially on the door. 3.) put an oil where the door close and open. You can also put oil to all moving parts for much better result. 4.) then try to test it if it works, hope it helps you and rate me if it does.thank you..
try to re start the power first to reset the supply in which the door unable to open and then push the open/close button to open the door. if still won't open maybe their is an stuck up at mechanical part, so turn off the player then use a Phillip screw driver to loosen the screws and to remove the cover of the DVD player .you can now access the disc mechanical assembly of your DVD player, remove the CD first and then check if the plastic gear is mis aligned or the the drive belt is broken.much better if you can apply silicon grease in plastic gear for smooth operation.then make sure the open/close button is ok, good luck and good day.
yes, most of the dvd recorders are like that. you must read the user guide to find the correct dvd brand to use. i have a toshiba (i can only use maxell, (best) tdk ,dynex (good) and memorex (Ok)) fuji sony pansonic will not record nor play.
I had this problem and it turned out to be the gears on the door drive. There are two gears, one that engages the rack on the tray and one that has a slot that drives the clamping action to hold the DVD. These two gears were misaligned by one tooth. This prevented the gear with the slot from turning freely after the door was closed.
To fix it I had to take out the tray assembly, disasemble it, and reassemble it with the gears properly aligned. You need to remove the top and back of the case. Then take out two screws at the rear of the tray assembly and three screws on the circuit board attached to the tray assembly. Unplug the connections to that board. Slide out the tray assembly. Now you can pop the top off of the tray assembly by pulling out two tabs and sliding the top toward the rear. Now you can get to the gears to adjust them. The slotted gear should be able to turn freely for about 1/4 turn when the tray is closed. Make sure the pin on the clamping part is in the slot when you reassemble it.
Hi, I found this site today cos I had a similar problem. To cut a long story short I found a slot on the bottom of the machine, below the disc tray, that has a white lever in it. After removing the power source I moved the lever to the side and the tray opened manually so I could remove the disc. It seems It was a duff DVDR as other discs now work fine. Good luck !
