All CD drives and Hard Disks are removeable but they are not suposed to "fall out". There should be screws in the bottom to hold it in.

Did the whole drive fall out or just the "cup holder part"?

I emachine dvd rom/burner won't open how can i open it? but before it really do not play any dvd and then now it wont open.

If the door on your CD/DVD drive will not open when you push the eject button (on the front of the drive), Click on Start, My Computer, and Right Click on your CD/DVD drive. Then Click on Eject. If the door still refuses to open, you can insert a paper clip into the small hole on the faceplate of the drive and push it in until the door opens. If the door continues to refuse to open in the normal manner, you will have to replace the drive,

Hi i have an acer 7720g with windows xp profesional installed and the problem is that there is no cd drive icon in my computer althought that it is recognized in the device manager and it says that it is...

make sure that the dvd burner is getting enough power test all leads that are attached to the dvd burner including electical extensions and make sure they have a secure connection or just replace them there might be bad/faulty or
your drivers may have been corrupted or you might have a virus run your antivrus program
you might have to physically unplug the leads for this cd/dvd burner then plug them back in or
you might have to uninstall then reinstall your DVD/CD or uninstall the driver then reinstall for this device
control panel admistrive tools, computer management, device manager scroll down cd dvd rom drives right click you can you can update driver, roll back driver,or
select properties general troubleshoot, select driver click to reinstall drivers click update driver or uninstall then reinstall

if this does not fix the problem it might be a registry problem

Close all open programs

Click on Start, Run, and type regedit and press Enter
Click on the plus signs (+) next to the following folders

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

SYSTEM

CurrentControlSet

Control

Class

{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

This folder is the DVD/CD-ROM Drive Class Description in the registry. Look for any of the following names in the right hand column.

Upper Filters

Lower Filters

Upper Filters.bak

Lower Filters.bak

If any of the above keys shown in step 4 are listed, right-click on them and choose Delete

After deleting the keys, close the registry editor
Reboot your computer

Open My Computer and check to see if your CD or DVD drives have returned. You may also want to open Device Manager and verify that the yellow exclamation and error code on the CD or DVD drive is gone.

hope this helps

My cd dvd drive is not open , tell me about cd drive open

First you need to provide more details, it's not open when the computer it's running, when the computer it's shut down...in first case you can go right click on the cd-dvd drive in my computer, and click the EJECT task, in the second case(can be used in the first one also) you can just insert a paper clip in to the tiny hole on the cd-dvd, and press the paper clip..it will mechanical open the cd-dvd drive. If you have a laptop, some models, like IBM, Gateway have on the back of the laptop a small button, liket he battery one that you can press and the cd-dvd will pump by itself.Good luck. www.nydatapc.com for more help.

Disc stuck in dvd drive. tries to spin. won't eject. (emachines desktop with xp home

There is a small pin hole below the tray. Straighten a paper clip and gently push it in this hole. The tray will unlock and pop out slightly, then pull the tray out and remove the DVD disc.

My cd drive in the acer will not come out cn you help

Hi,

If the eject button on the faceplate doesn't work there are two other ways to open it.

1. Open My Computer, Right-Click the drive, then select Eject from the grey menu.

2. get a paperclip, straighten it, then insert it slowly and gently into the small hole in the DVD faceplate. when you feel the switch, press in with gentle preasure then back out. This should release the drive lock and it should pop open.

If neither of these two solutions works there may be a bent lock or a disk jammed in the drive. You will have to identify the set screw on the bottom of the laptop that holds the dvd then remove the screw and slide it out, then retry step two while giving the faceplate a bit of preasure.

Hope this helps FixYa,

Chris
