I have just bought a Ryobi Expand-it 30cc multi tool 4 stroke. Using it for the first time I filled the oil as instructed, put the petrol in as instructed and then started the machine after 2-3 minutes I started trimming the hedge it was always slow to rev up when I pressed the throttle but seem to work ok after about 5 minutes it stopped with clean oil coming from the carburetta area. The oil chamber is empty? Is it broken ?

This may sound like a dumb question, but did you mix the fuel and put it in the machine? If so, you shouldn't have. 4 strokes don't take mixed fuel. You must put the SAE 30 Oil (Not 2 cycle Oil) in a different chamber. Let me know, PLEASE!

I have a Ryobi RPT3000 trimmer. Firstly how do I top up engine oil? And then how do I restring it?

The engine on that trimmer will be a 2 stroke 30cc engine not a 4 stroke.
"Two Stroke Oil" is added to the fuel for a 2 stroke fuel mix in accordance with the proportions specified by Ryobi for that engine. The required petrol/oil mix may be printed on the top of the fuel cap. No other oil is used in a 2 stroke engine.

There are a number of videos on Youtube people have uploaded which will show you how to replace the pull cord on a trimmer.

Bought it at local, start alright with petrol. When try with 2 Stroke RYOBI Synthetic Oil hard to start. Should i just use normal petrol oil?

no --- 2 strokes use a special 2 stroke oil ==not ordinary engine oil==
the difference is that the 2 stroke oil is specially blended to mix with petrol and will not block up the fine jets in the carby
it also "sticks " more readily to the metal components in the engine thus preventing wear
as a point of interest most small engines do not like E mix fuels either
so for trouble free operation --2 stroke oil mixed in the correct ratio with either 89 or 91 octane petrol and it will start first pull every time
use the primer bulb sparingly or the choke until it fores

What is percentage of oil for Ryobi cs 30

Fuel/Oil Mix ratio is 40:1. That is 3.2 oz oil per gallon of gas, or 1.6 ounces of oil/ half gallon of gas. I highly recommend using a good synthetic 2 stroke oil. Many benefits there.

What is the fuel mixture?

hi there
pfrolander

the ratio of oil to petrol you should use is 50:1 ( that is 20 mils of hi quality 2 stroke oil per 1.0 litre of petrol you mix ) using hi quality sthil / husqvarna 2 stroke oil

1000 divided by 50 = 20 mils of oil per 1.0 litre of petrol

NOTE if you do not have any hi quality 2 stroke but some from your local garage ( that you may use in say a scooter for example use 40 mils of oil per litre it is richer

this will do the job

cheers hope it helps

Could you please let me know. 1] Can I use E10 fuel in my new RLT 30 CET 30cc trimmer that I have just purchased and am yet to start up? 2] Is 50 to 1 50mm of oil to one litre of petrol?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly

First off the engine is designed to operate on unleaded fuel. The manufacturer makes no statements at all about E-10 Fuel. I will tell you from experience that you can use E-10 Fuel but.... should you ever have a warranty claim make sure the entire fuel system is 100% unleaded pre-mixed fuel. Your not going to hurt the unit using E-10 fuel as long as you maintain the proper fuel-oil mixtures. If anything a splash more of 2 stroke oil as in 22 mm / liter vs 20 mm. Or (+) 8 mm per gal.

Manufacturers statemenrts and recommended fuel mixtures below:

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

The person I bought it off said it takes 50 to 1 don't know how to measure that

50 to 1 means that for every 1 unit of (2 Stroke) oil you use 50 of the same units of petrol. Most 2 stroke oil bottles have a measure on the side which you use to measure how much oil you're using so for 5 Litres of petrol (approx 1 gallon) you would use 100ml of oil.

50 to 1 which is usually written as 50:1 is a very light mix. Husqvarna saws use 40:1. You need to use good quality 2 stroke oil from tool hire shops rather than the cheaper stuff you can buy at petrol service stations. Some makes of 2 stroke oil, like Stihl, have a measuring cup on them with ratios marked on the side. To fill them you take the cap off the measuring cup and fill to the mark at 50:1 by squeezing the oil bottle. Then pour that into 5 litres of petrol. You can also buy mixing bottles in some hardware stores with ratios marked on them. You fill the oil up to the mark 50:1 and then fill it up with petrol to get the right mix.

I want to check if a makita rbc 230 brush wood cutter runs on petrol (neat) or two stroke mixture

I think the model your speaking of is the RBC30. It is a 2 stroke mixture. The 430 models are 4 stroke and do not require mixing oil and fuel. They are made by Ryobi for Makita.

Here is the RBC 30

RBC30SESA
  • Powerful 30cc 2-Stroke Petrol Engine
  • Easy-Start Carburettor
  • Expand-It™ Attachments Compatible
  • 18"/46cm Cutting Path Width
  • 2 Year Domestic Warranty
Info on the 430

RYRBC430SES
  • New 4 Stroke Design
  • Light in Weight 7.3kg
  • Safe Anti-kick Feature
  • Reduced Noise Levels, Lower Emissions
  • 2 Year Warranty
This is pretty much the entire line up of their brush cutters:

There is not a 230 model.
