Yes sounds like the belts are stretched out or worn out if it is belt driven. Direct drive would be the motor going bad. Sounds like it needs to go to the shop.Or a come to your home service.

Re: Tape deck clicks off won't play. Slows down and stops...

Really simple one this. You have a slipping belt. Don't try to use any more tapes in it, you end up chewing them up. I change all my belts in my decks every 2 years due to the extreme heat we have here. Unless you know how to strip the unit and can get hold of the correct belt I'm afraid it's a repair shop job. BMW To give you some idea of price I charge $50 for a complete service, alignment and belt change.

I don't have the manual. I placed a tape in the deck and cannot remove it. Help!!! It has happened before, and suddenly I will be able to remove it, and then it will happen again. I'm not...

pry on the tape deck cover with a thin knife and see if it opens...what happen is that your tape deck eat up the tape with the spindle this is due to the fact that the head and the spindle and the pinch roller is dirty.to clean these parts trick the deck as if it has in a tape.do this by when you open the cover push down the lever at the bottom of the tape rest in the tape deck when you have remove your tape. at the same time press play it will start to spin take a cotton swab dip into alcohol press it on the pinch roller until it is clean also apply it to the head. after cleaning you are good to go your tape will stop stuck until the head and pinch roller gets dirty again. good luck.

I have a NSX-V70 stereo. Tapes and CD do not work, FM/AM is fine

Your unit needs a little TLC. Let me address the likely problems/solutions:

1) Tape deck stuck - The most common problem here is that the belt has gotten slippery. This has prevented the mechanism from resetting to a known position and that is what prevents the door from opening. Hopefully when you pried it open, nothing bot broken.

2) Both tape drives run from the same motor and use different belts. The same applies to the second deck as the first. The belts are sliping and need to be replaced.

3) The CD lens is probably dirty and needs to be cleaned. The fact that the CD stops and an attempt is made to play it suggests that the optics are working enough to detect the disc. Clean the lens using a cotton swab and alcohol and that should resoplve the CD problem.

If you have not opened up these before, I would not suggest you start without someone around who has. There are 3 belts that need to be chagned for the cassette section to work. Plan on $15-$20 for the belts.

well fuses are at the power supply sections and if the tape was jamed inside the deck, just disconnect the plug and try to take-off the case/cover of your unit but before opening it wait for about 1-2 hours to discharge the capasitors and then disassymble your unit try to get the tape deck and then get a knife a scissor, something to cut the tape inside the deck, thats the best solution, but you won't get your tape back though even when you get your tape uncut well, when you play it again you will not get good sound.

maybe your tape deck have a problems, maybe a broken gears, a belt was snaped, or a relay is the main problem.

its better to observe your unit first before you play a tape again.

ok? hope you could get your system back in good condition and have a good day.

Loud clicking

Open the cassette deck and use a pen to push down the heads. After this it probably works better to avoid using cassettes in this machine.

CD Changer & Tape Deck

{11-30-13)
TO FIX THE CASSETTE DECK BELT PROBLEMS:

- Disassemble the player.

(you will need only one, long, phillips head screwdriver $5.00)

[It is a tedious job. (first,study how it is put together) There are 6 screws on the back - three down deep holes, three at the bottom, and two dark colored ones on the side. Once the front covering is off, then you start the process to get at the Cassette deck. You will have to unscrew a ground wire; pull the "tape" connections and one wire bundle snap fitting; and then unscrew the two screws on the back, near where the wires for the speaker connections are placed... then remove the Cassette Deck.]

{I sat in my recliner with the whole thing in my lap as i worked with a foot stool near by to put things as they came apart... and i used a metal salad bowl to through the screws into as i went along.}

- Study the drive mechanism.

- See where the drive pulleys are.

- Use small elastic bands to replace the broken belts.
(small = 1/2 inch diameter ... the size of your little finger, but will stretch out to two inches or so.)

https://www.google.com/search?q=small+elastic+bands&espv=210&es_sm=122&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=6rGaUrTlCszloASJw4KQBw&ved=0CGYQsAQ

I happened to have these on hand:

12_1_2013_4_19_19_am.jpg

- I did this on my JVC PC-XC70BK and it worked.

- Both the player-side and record-side decks had broken belts.

[The fast forward and rewind wouldn't work on either side.]

(Per each deck: one drives play, one belt drives both Rewind & Forward)

- Now both decks work.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TO FIX THE CD PLAYER ISSUE:
- My guess is the laser pick up is dirty (because they all face upward and oily film builds up on them).
- First try a disk cleaner with a brush on the underside of it.
- If that doesn't work, then (after taking off the front plastic cover plate {see above}), you can see where the upward pointing laser lens is. If you can, use Rubbing Alcohol on the end of a Q-Tip to probe into the area and thoroughly clean its surface. Then wipe it clean with a dry Q-Tip.
- If you can't get at the laser lens, then Disassemble the Unite.
[There is another ground wire that must be unscrewed from the deck assembly. And there is the issue of the tape connections leading to the top part of the unit ... they will flop around and fall out of their place once you have pulled them from the connectors ... with a bit of observation you can get them back correctly.]
- Unscrew two screws at the back ... then pull out the tray assembly.
.... then go as far in the disassembly as you need to so you can swab the laser lens with the Rubbing Alcohol.
- Re-assemble. I had one screw left over.
... ROTFL but i know where it goes and i don't care to get it there... so to hell with it, right?
Everything works fine now. Not bad for a 17 year old piece of equipment that has a Ten CD storage tray... that you can't get anymore... right?
Clicking sound in tape deck
All Aiwas  are prone to this problem.  The doors are a real pain and easily give up the ghost.  I have 2, both probmatic in this direction.
I have spoken to others about this problem. Seems no easy fix.
Have you in your case, tried leaving and old tape in the tape part of your  unit . The noise you hear, usually starts when tape unit area doors are about to pack a wobbly. Unless under warrenty, proberly,
not worth getting fixed.    It seems something gets weak in the activation part and get a mind of its own.  Very common after about 3 yrs of ownership.  All the best: jamz
