Re: Rio Lycra

What is the meaning of "not play"? In general please verify that: Channel selectors matched up on the transmitter and receiver? Audio jacks tightly connected? If the audio jack is not COMPLETELY seated in the socket at the rear of the Lyra Wireless receiver, you will not hear audio. Audio jacks connected to appropriate input on audio equipment? Source selector on audio equipment set appropriately? Volume levels set on MusicMatch software and audio equipment? Batteries in the remote control? The Remote Control has a Red Light that should turn on whenever a button is pressed. If the unit locks up and will not respond: Remove and re-install the batteries. Using Explorer or My Computer, locate the recent files transferred and delete them. Make sure that the original audio files are valid (not corrupt) by playing them back through MusicMatch Jukebox before retransferring them to the device. If the problem still persists, reformat the memory. To reformat the memory, right click on the device within the Explorer or My Computer window, select the format command (full format) to reformat the internal memory of the device. Ensure that FAT is selected if you are using Windows 2000 or XP. if the display shows "00" tracks in the display: You may need to re-format the unit's internal memory. Good luck!

How do i download/transfer my rio carbo mp3 music database to my ipod itunes music manager??

The Rio Carbon is completely incompatible with iTunes (which uses AAC format). It only accepts mp3, wma, and some WAV's. The Rio Carbon is still the best mp3 player I ever owned, but since Rio doesn't make them anymore, it will never be compatible with iTunes. You can use it with Rhapsody's Mp3 Only service, or any music service that gives you the files in mp3 format - but you can't sync the songs through the music service's "synchronize function" - you have to download the files to a location on your computer, and then use the Rio music Manager to transfer the songs to your device.

Rio carbon 5 gig mp3

The Rio Carbon will not play songs from iTunes unless they are in mp3 format. If you cannot download the songs in this format then I would recommend a program such as mediacoder to convert the tracks. I don't know why iTunes was recommended for the Rio but I would just use drag and drop into the folder called Music on your Rio.

Hope this helps,

How to take music off Rio Carbon

I have bad news - I was completely unsuccessful in dragging tracks from the rio to my computer. You can load songs, but you can't "unload" them with the Rio Carbon.

Just in case your computer has capabilities that mine does not, try this:
Double-click "My Computer" on your PC desktop
Double click the Rio Carbon icon
Double click the "Music" folder
Try dragging a single music file from the "Music" folder window to your PC desktop - it will either work, or it will say that it cannot copy the file to the specified location.

Good luck!

Go to this part of the Rio website, and get the Plays for sure firmware update - even if you don't transfer any WMA files, this will help you get around the Windows Media Player 11 compatibility issue:

(WARNING: make sure the player is fully charged before doing this, or your player will be permanently lost)

My Rio turns off mid-song

I would recommend wiping your player:

Windows only.... Please post if you are not using windows...

Open My Computer with your Rio plugged in.
Right click on your Rio carbon and click on format.
Leave the default values - if it asks you something then use your initiative.
Then click on format.
Then when it has finished formatting go to your firmware (can be downloaded from: http://www.digitalnetworksna.com/support/rio/product.asp?prodID=235).
Follow the instructions and then it should load the firmware onto your player.
When it has done then your player should (in theory!) work properly.

Hope this helps

Problem with SD card recognition

Try updating the firmware, you can download it from the RCA Website (http://support.rcaaudiovideo.com/).
If your computer doesn't recognize the player, you'll have to turn it off, remove the battery and keep "PLAY" pressed for 10 seconds while connecting it to the USB port, then update the firmware.

Try this and let me know if it works: Plug the player into the computer (by the USB cable obviously), open your Rio Music Manager, go to "Tools", "Synchronization options". Then create a "synchronization profile" as instructed. As you progress through the instructions, your second preferrence to edit is called "content deletion". This is where you can tell your player to NEVER delete your music. (Choose "never" from the dropdown menu). Then follow the rest of the steps, answering the other questions as you prefer. Hopefully this will prevent your player from losing songs you've already downloaded.
