It mighr be spindle motor failing, possibly salvageable by spraying CAIG DeOXIT into motor and on shaft bearing. Run unit for several minutes to work into bearings.

My Samsung WA13VS top loader is washing letting water in and out but wont spin. What can I do to fix this

the first thing to check is the brake motor, sometimes you can hear them clicking, if not remove the back panel, at the bottom you will see a small unit with a wire attached, can be hard to see, turn on machine to spin and watch or feel if the wire gets tight and pulls the lever its attached to backwards if nothing happens, try spin again and test for power to the unit no power means,a broken wire,or faulty board,if power and brake motor working try a new capacitor

Why does my radio work in car but CD player doesnt

Could be that the motor for the cd player went out, the radio doesn't require ant moving parts to operate. If the disc does spin up and it isnt the motor but it wont play ANY cds most likely the laser lens is scratched. if it is one of these, its not fixable, but if its a software issue instead, try resetting the whole player, easiest way would be to disconnect the + connector on your battery. Hope it does the trick

My servis tumble dryer wont spin i have had a look and the belt hasnt snapped and the motor is still working

Do you hear the motor turn on when you start the dryer? If the belt is loose then it could cause it not to turn.

1. If you are able to run it with some of the housing removed, then do that and verify where you are losing your ability to spin.
- Make sure the motor is engaging and actually turning the belt. If it is turning and moving the belt, check to make sure the belt is routed correctly and not slipping on any of the pulleys. If it is, then it may just be time to change the belt.
- If the motor does not spin, listen to the motor and see if you can hear it kick on when you try to start a cycle. If you don't hear anything, turn the power off (unplug from the wall to be safe) and disconnect the connection to the motor. Use a voltmeter or multimeter and connect the probes to the two pins that provide power to the motor (can't say which ones specifically. There may be a service wiring diagram tucked away inside the dryer houseing somewhere.) Plug the dryer back into the wall try to start a cycle which observing the meter. If you are getting no voltage then the motor is not getting the signal to kick on, which means it is some kind of controller device (timer switch, selector switch or control board depending on your device) or a relay. If you hear the motor kick on but won't spin, there are a couple things you can try (unplug the dryer first for both): 1) Take the belt off the motor pulley and try to move it by hand. If it doesn't move smoothly then it could be seizing internally and needs to be repaired or replaced. 2) Disassemble the exhaust housing and check for any small items that may have snuck in past the lint filter somehow. If a small item made it's way past the filter it could jam itself in the blower assembly (which is most likely driven by the main motor) which would either cause the motor to fail or a belt to fail. Either way, **** out all the lint within the exhaust system while you have it open as it's good practice! :)

- Refering to the service wiring manual (which may be tucked away inside the control panel housing) is key. If the motor is not kicking on then you need it to trace its path for power and the signal to turn on. If it is turning on and moving, it's a matter of finding which physical piece is failing (which can be hard to do online).

- If the drum spins easily by hand then it's most likely in the hardware that transfers the energy from the motor to the drum. If it doesn't spin very easily, you may want take the drum out and check for any objects that may have wedged in between the drum and the housing. Also check the plastic shims and cloth gasket to make sure they have not worn excessively. Lastly, make sure the drum has not warped at all.

Dryers are fairly simple machines. Let me know how it turns out for you.

Dvd player wont read any discs cds and i just bought it keeps saying bad disc

No disc error can be a DIY like the following steps.

Assuming that the disc is good.

1.Cleaning the lens. - Sometimes because of dust the lens can't read any disc.

Try clean the lens by soft cotton buds. Be careful while doing this.

2.Replacing the ribbon - Check the ribbon connected to the lens from the main board for scratch, damage. Once it has an open line then of course the lens can't read the disc. Also try to erase the contact by pencil eraser.

If you've done the steps above and the symptoms still there then the next step requires you a little knowledge in soldering technique and reading the ohmmeter.

3.Checked the motor - Check the motor that spin the disc with an ohmmeter. You can test it using the ohmmeter (x1) even it is connected on the lens assembly.

Good motor - reading should be fairly high and it will spin.

Bad motor - reading will drop to low resistance and will not spin.

Hint : 50% of my repaired unit the above parts are commonly caused of the problem.

If you confirmed that you have a defective motor then replace it with a new one. Before replacing the new motor you have to check the clearance of the disc holder with the old one. The clearance should be the same as the old because if not the lens will not read the disc if it is too far or too close.

If you already cleaned the lens, and confirmed that the ribbon is good as well as the motor then I've advice you to send it to repair shop because the next step should be done with an expert because it is quite technical diagnosing the fault between the pick-up lens and the main board.

Front loader wont spin

Hello there:
It doesn't spin If your washer won't spin, check these: If the motor is running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it The motor coupler may be broken. Many Whirlpool®-manufactured washers use a small, relatively inexpensive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other. Over time, the coupler wears out and fails. You may need to replace it. A belt may be broken. Many washing machines have one or two belts. If a belt is broken or badly worn, you need to replace it with a genuine belt from the manufacturer. (Some washing machine belts are designed with special characteristics not found in automotive belts.) The clutch may be worn. If your washer is a GE, it may use a clutch to come up to the proper spin speed. As the clutch wears out, it may prevent the unit from spinning well or at all. If the clutch is worn, you need to replace it. For this job, you probably want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician. The drive motor may be defective. Many washer brands use a reversing motor. For agitation the motor runs in one direction, for spinning and draining, the other. It's possible for a motor to burn out in one direction and continue to operate in the other. If this happens, you need to replace the entire motor. The transmission may not be shifting properly. Older washers produced by Whirlpool® have a transmission with an electro-mechanical shifter. If the shifter becomes even partially defective, the unit may drain the water but not spin. This is a complex system, if your washer has a shifter problem, you may want to hire a qualified appliance repair technician to repair it. The spin bearing or basket drive may be worn or seized. These components allow the inner tub to spin freely inside the outer tub. When this is the problem, you usually hear a loud sound during the spin cycle.

2006 lincoln zephyr cd player won't play cds

HI.This will occur when the optical assembly becomes unstable. this ((Whole One Piece)), assembly incorporates the spin/load motor, optics housing /arm, tracking device and tracking rail. This is connected to the loading dock assembly. This 'NO Disc' or CD NOT PLAYABLE, code is the result of a failed or burned out lens. It is possible that you have a dirty lens cap. you can try using a cleaning disk in this case to confirm actual lens failure. if the cleaning doesn't restore normal reading capabilities, this will confirm my diagnosis.

You will need to have the optical assembly replaced in this case. once replaced, your unit will be able to read and track once more.

My washing machine wont spin anymore.

its motor problem that is making noise If your washer won't spin, check these:

It doesn't pump or spin
It pumps, but doesn't spin
It spins only with the lid closed
It doesn't pump or spin If it doesn't pump water out or spin, check to see if the motor is running, then proceed as follows:

  • If the motor is running, your washer probably has a frozen pump pulley or a broken pump belt. To check the pulley, remove the pump from the washer and try to rotate the pulley manually. If it doesn't turn freely--if it's frozen or stiff--replace it. If the pump belt is broken or looks quite worn, replace it--but be sure to check the pump pulley before you change the belt.

  • If the motor isn't running, the lid switch may be defective. If so, the washing machine can't spin and may not function at all. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washing machine to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

It spins only with the lid closed For safety, washing machines are made so that they spin only with the lid closed. The lid switch prevents the spinning action when the lid is up.

Hi, It sounds like it might need new brushes in the motor. Sometimes just before they wear down completely, they will wash but not spin, this is because the spin needs more power. Tom.
