Hi jandh40...

You have an air leak somewhere in your piping, housing of the pump or maybe the mechanical seal and that is causing your pump not to pump.
Try to disconnect the piping and hook a water hose up to the pump and turn the pressure on, it should show you where the air leak is by spraying water out of the leak area.

I replaced old pump w/ Flotec 1/2HP FP4012 and replaced old pressure tank w new 35gal tank. Pump primed but cycles on-off every minute constantly even w/ no water turned on. Goes to 50PSI, loses pressure...

The water and therefore the pressure has to be going somewhere. If you are sure that there are no leaks in the house or outside, then the water is going back into the well. There is a check valve either in the suction line of the pump between the top of the well and the pump or down in the well.
If this check valve fails, it allows water to go the wrong way and back to the well. The result is that you lose pressure.
Secondly, you have to be sure that there are no air leaks between the top of the well and the inlet to the check valve. Leaks in that piping will make repriming difficult.
Write back with more and I'll try to help more.

I Noticed that there was dirt in the sub pump system, I took it apart got it working, bit for some reason it wont **** up the water? I was wondering if you could tell me why? thanks

Maybe you installed the check valve upside down and the water will not pass through a check valve that is facing down instead of up. If you took the bottom strainer plate off the pump and cleaned it out in there, the pump impeller may have stipped its splines and consequently only the shaft turns. Usually I find small stones, string wood chips etc. that stop the pump. The breaker should pop if it is the proper amperage, when stopprd up with debris. Good luck. Hope this helps you solve your problem. Please post to fixya.com if it does, so I get the credit for the solve. Let me know if you do need more advice. I will be happy to give you the whole lowdow on sumps if you wish.

Hi,
Maybe... and maybe there is a resisriction somewhere...
But the flotec pumps are ell cheapo and you should 1st find out the depth of the well, then go to a reputable plumbing supply houde and get there charts out to figure out which pump you need to get the water flow you want at the depth of your well....got that?? :-)

How do you adjust the water pressure on a flotec fp4012-10 water pump?

You can not adjust the 'water pressure' the pump delivers but you can regulate the flow by installing a valve on the pump discharge and then partially closing it to reduce flow and increase pressure.
