Question about Sony BDP-S300 Blu-Ray Disc Player

1 Answer

Loud hissing from speakers

I just purchased a BDP-S300. When I powered it up, I immediately got a very loud hiss/whine from the TV speakers that continued right through the quick setup until a disc was loaded and began to play. The noise was not affected by the vulume control unless I muted the TV. Disc play appeared to be trouble free and without audio problems. This same thing has occured each time I have powered up the player. My TV is a Sony Bravia and I'm using the HDMI connection. The player is not connected to any other audio equipment.

It could be the lead, so try replacing that it is highly unlikely that it is the tv so i would take the DVD player back to the store.

How can I solve a problem on my pc wiith regards to it's hissing sound

In most cases it sounds like the fan is having trouble. Get a can of compressed air and clear out the air vents on the sides and back. It may spit out a ton of dust, and it should help improve the hissing sound. If it needs a better cleaning, you may need to remove the lower part of the casing.

Loud hiss on one channel

could be a bad cable or could be the high frequency control is turned up too high and the speaker without the hiss has a blown tweeter (high frequency driver), and you're trying to compensate for the lack of highs on the bad speaker by turning up the high frequency on the EQ, which makes the other speaker hiss.

My speakers are not working. They turn off and on and sometimes make a loud hissing sound. What should I do?

Hello Miranda, Hi, looks like its an amplifier problem, you see the hissing loud sound means that the amplifier section is bad. the amplifier is usually an integrated circuit, this needs replacement, the job can be done by a desoldering the part and replace by another IC. Have this checked by a technician.

Bdp-s300 non responsive after firmware update

Please follow the troubleshooting steps and check the operation.

  1. Power on the BDP-S300 Blu-ray Disc player.
  2. Immediately after "POWER ON" is displayed on the front panel display (within one second), press the "STOP" button on the player. The disc tray opens and the player turns off automatically.
Note: Pressing the "STOP" button on the remote control does not work. It is necessary to press the "STOP" button on the BDP-S300 player.
  3. If the disc tray still does not open, repeat these steps but vary the timing of pressing the "STOP" button in step 2.
  • If the issue persists, please unplug the Blu-ray Player for more than 2 minutes and then reconnect it.
Please let me know if you require any clarifications. Thank you for understanding.

Speakers have hissing noise coming out of them

Hook a graphic equalizer between the piano and speakers, and turn down all sliders above 8 kHz. Since the highest note of a piano is 4186 Hz (4.186 kHz), you'll still hear all the notes but cut the hiss. If the hiss is coming from the speaker's power amplifier (in which case the equalizer won't help), turn down the speaker volume and turn up the piano volume. Live instruments generally need some doctoring to sound good through high-quality stereo equipment, as they only produce a limited range of frequencies whereas good speakers reproduce a lot more - including hiss.

Loud hissing through rear (souround sound) speakers

I have the Sony Bravia KDL-46S4100. The high-picthed hiss drives me insane. I have a work around but not a fix. Go into your TV's menu and find BACKLIGHT. Adjust it from 1-9 with the house quiet and find what frequency of the hiss is the least annoying.

Logitech x530 hissing noise

I had the same problem for the longest time with my set of Logitech 540 5.1 speakers. Turns out the solution was pretty simple. All I did was open the Master Volume controller and mute the Microphone. Hissing went to zero. Sound is great now.
