1) Remove ALL power to the laptop. Remove the AC adapter (Charger) and Battery.
2) Put the screws in a container. They roll quite easily off of a table.

Here is a link to a free Service Manual for the Acer Aspire One,

Click on the blue One to the right of Aspire One.
This is a PDF file. It may take up to 30 seconds for the first page to come up.
It may also take additional time to fully download.

When I go to start menu to shut down and press shut down it will just reboot and will ot shut down

Step 1:
Laptop computers can be wonderful devices, except when the need to troubleshoot arises. Acer laptops are no different. A quick way to fix many problems with an Acer laptop running Windows is to reset it to factory settings. Resetting your Acer laptop to factory settings can eliminate slow operation, registry problems, virus problems and spyware issues. What's more, a factory reset of your laptop may reduce the need for a full reinstallation of Windows.

Back up all necessary data to an external device such as a disk, flash drive or hard drive Make sure all programs are closed and shut down your Acer laptop. Detach any external hardware such as an external hard drive or printer. Press the Power button to boot your Acer laptop. Press "Alt-F10" on your keyboard when the Acer screen appears at the start of the boot-up process. Wait a moment while Windows loads the reset files. Select "Restore System from factory default" in the Acer eRecovery Management window. Click "Next" on the next screen to continue. Click "Next" on the following destination information window. This will pop up a notice telling you that resetting your Acer laptop will erase all data and restore the laptop to its original settings and configuration. Click "OK" in the notice window to proceed with resetting your Acer laptop. Wait while your Acer laptop is reset to factory settings.

Have an aver inspire 4520 dont boot up compleatly and dont have the back up disk

on the acer aspire range there should be a recovery partition hidden by turning your note book off completely then press the power button as soon as you have done this press ALT on the left hand side and keep it down while continuously tapping the F10 button "fast" as this will start the internal recovery partition, if you have formatted the hard drive and this partition does not exist anymore you can go to microsoft or a torrent site and download the correct operating system making sure it matches your Operating system genuine sticker by using this key on the back of your computer you wont have to buy a new operating system, if your hard drive has developed a fault which is the main cause of you doing this then you will have to buy a new hard drive to replace it with using the same method above if you need further help please drop me a line, If i have helped please rate me Kronoguy

When I play a cd the drive vibrates very noisily

The vibration is from the fast rotation of the drive spinning the cd. Many newer drives do this. the only solution would be to place an older slower drive into the computer.

Acer hard drive

Hi, the problem is one hard drive ie the 1/3 one is a SATA hard drive, the other is IDE.
to set them both up you need to do this,
Connect the IDE Hard Drive using the IDE cable like before.
With the Acer Hard Drive you need a Sata cable cost about a £1 from any shop.
You connect the sata cable from the hard drive to the motherboard, but on the motherboard you are looking for a small red connection same size as the cable, SATA is on most motherboards for machines that are just over a year old.

Hope it helps.
Have a nice christmas
