If, after going through the troubleshooting tips, you still have the constant clicking, then, you may wish to arrange for a repair technician who is manufacturer authorized to service your stove, a KitchenAid, right?
Try cleaning the starter with rubbing alcohol and toothbrush. There might be soap or boiled over residue on the starter. If that doesn't work, try using fine 150 grit sandpaper and gentle clean the starter with it. This problems drove me nuts too. Good luck!
Depending on how vented and the weather you could be getting some wafting, if concerned with a leak should contact your gas service person to come check. Make sure your vent isnt blocked. But I have found with most units in winter especially you can get the occasional smell due to wind directions , humidity. But please if over concearned get someone to check.
Just happened to me. I unplugged the electric starter, wiped up the water, took off burners, etc., and placed a fan over the stove. After about 3 hours, I plugged in starter and the clicking is no longer.
