Can you check that the new battery is an alkaline battery? If it is, and you are still getting the E31 error code, you will need to return your rangefinder to Bushnell to have it reprogrammed.

E31 is a programming error code. Most of the time this comes from using non-alkaline batteries or from letting a battery die in the unit. Non-alkaline batteries just don't generate enough current for the laser to operate properly.

For North American washers, I would suggest resetting you appliance, by either unplugging it or shutting the power off at your home's circuit breaker, for 3-5 minutes. E31 simply means - Waste Toner Reservoir Overflow Problem (when the total number of copies is more than 100K sheets). After E31 is displayed, 1000 sheets may be copied before shutdown.
