Unfortunately no. You used to be able to get a usb cable and connect your cell as a modem and get free internet access, but the wireless companies have figured out that they can charge an unreasonable rate for internet access, and you now have to purchase an air time wireless card through your cell provider in order to connect through their cell services. It's a bummer, I know.

I have dell latitiude e5400 .how i can use sim card facility?

It hasn't got a SIM port, it is a laptop not a cell phone. The SD/MMC port is for an SD card. Insert an SD card and use it as an external small storage device.

No sim card installed

Hello
The SIM tray near the battery allows you to connect to Internet or Dial. Sometime the Laptop/Netbook doesn't allow you to access your laptop/netbook. I suggest reseting your laptop will help you.

i would suggest calling technical support to see if the sim card you are using is even compatible with your laptop, you should not be having this problem if it is.

There's a lot of available wifi adapters out there that you can just plug into your laptop's usb port. You can try looking them up online or in computer shops.

I have dell inspiron n5010. It has SIM slot. What kind of SIM card can I use?

You can use a SIM card that is attached to a cell phone network Data Plan. You can then use your 3G/4G access that you have purchased monthly from a cell phone provider to get on the internet anywhere.
Thanks for using FixYa.

I would like to connect my laptop to the internet is there a coax cord for that

There are a few ways to connect a laptop to the internet. First, there's hard-line (such as a modem cord, or phone-cable) and with a laptop, that's it unless you have a wireless card. I do believe your model (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/ProductList.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=321957&prodSeriesId=430816&taskId=135) has a wireless card, but as you can see there are MANY versions of the 2200! For the most part, your particular exact model won't matter.

If you have wireless somewhere, all you need is the access codes if there is security on the wireless networks.
If you don't have wireless, and don't have internet service at the place you wish to connect at (such as your home) and have not set that up yet, you have a few options
1) Get internet at that place (such as your house; you'll call and they'll come install it, and usually rent or sell you a modem of some kind. The sales reps usually can explain what they offer and tell you what would work best).
2) Call a cell phone company and see if they offer a service of the same kind, either at the house OR via a phone/your current phone service (etc). Often this entails a cable from your laptop to the phone, or a SIM card in the laptop, or a PCMCIA card (check ebay for these, before you buy into a plan, some might be outdated so get informed).
3) Dig around; there's tools out there that one can use to make a wireless PCMCIA or express card or USB wireless device that can uplink to a satelite (usually this is more expensive). Also youtube might have some information on how to get free internet.

You will need to get internet either in a public "wifi hotspot" (often free at public libraries or coffee shops in the USA), or via a hardware line to your residence.

There isn't a way to plug a laptop in directly to the internet at a residence without some kind of modem, though you CAN often use the telephone lines directly into a PC to use software for faxing and telephone stuff.

good luck!

Want to know what the sims card is for under the batttery

A Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) on a removable SIM Card securely stores the service-subscriber key (IMSI) used to identify a subscriber on mobile telephony devices (such as computers and mobile phones). The SIM card allows users to change phones by simply removing the SIM card from one mobile phone and inserting it into another mobile phone or broadband telephony device.
